Myths and legends about fake lashes

Many questions and doubts about fake eyelashes are constantly coming up regarding the benefits and limitations they offer. Here at Tigress Beauty you will find top vegan eyelashes that can complete your outfit perfectly and provide you with that doll-eyed look for any special occasions.

Allergic reactions to a fake eyelash

A minimum percentage of clients turn out to be allergic to a fake eyelash is because of its glue. It can produce a little swelling and itching while we are putting them or after a few hours of putting them on. We must bear in mind that sensitivity, itching and irritation can occur because of many factors and in different situations. For example, also in manicures (for enamel), in facial cleansing (for some cream), in hair treatments (for some dye or even shampoo) etc.

With this we want to clarify that there are many natural substances, and other chemicals to which we can commonly be allergic. An allergic reaction occurs when our body detects a body or foreign substance in it and identifies it as dangerous.

The most important thing is that the glue should NEVER touch the skin. It is very strange that the vapours of the glue can produce an allergic reaction, what could happen is that this reaction is caused by any other substance that is in contact with the skin, such as, for example, the patches, the primer or the tape. This happens because the skin under our eyes is the thinnest skin of our entire body.

Is rest necessary?

This is one of the most common questions in this sector. People consider that after 3 refills should take a break and apply some type of serum to renew the tab.

But why? An incorrect application of a fake eyelash can cause the premature fall of the natural eyelash but a correct application does not have to damage anything the natural eyelashes.

Bad routines for our eyelashes

Use eyelash curler daily: we constantly press the eyelash and when we release the curler, many times, we pull some eyelash that was not in the fall phase (telogen), therefore some baldness is generated.

Too many mask layers: we believe that by applying many layers of mascara our lashes will look longer and thicker, but in the long run it does the opposite. By forming the mascara gobs, the eyelash that is growing cannot grow in a good direction.

Do not remove make-up: Removing make-up is very important, at the end of the day you have to remove all the makeup remains from our eyelash. This will help us a lot, since, in this way, the follicle of the eyelash will be clean and healthy for much longer. Leaving the mascara at night, and not removing make-up, can affect the life cycle of our eyelash.

Putting on your fake lashes

The right way to put on some fake lashes is that they should have a unique union with the natural eyelash (in this article we told you how to achieve a perfect union between natural eyelashes and false eyelashes) so that its cycle was normal and healthy. The natural life of the eyelash, going through the three phases (anagen, catagen and telogen) is between 60 and 75 days.

This information helps us understand (and make our clients understand) that eyelashes are renewed. It is normal to lose between 1 and 3 tabs per day, but there may be days that we do not lose any and another day we lose 4. This will happen to us having fake lashes or not.

It is important to always place a suitable length and thickness on the natural flange, so that the false eyelash does not pull it.

If you, as a professional, ever need to tell a customer that they need to rest, it is because:

  • You have placed false eyelashes too thick or too long for the eyelash and they are hindering the growth cycle of the natural eyelash. This can cause alopecia or hair follicle disorder.
  • You are separating badly the natural eyelashes and when placing the false tab, it is united to more than one eyelash. As the tabs to which the false eyelash has been attached will have different ages, one will fall before causing the remaining tab to support the weight of the false eyelash plus the fallen tab. This will cause a premature fall of the natural flange.
  • You are making a volume with fans that are too big and too heavy for your eyelash, so (going back to the first option), it is not an appropriate weight for your eyelash and it will fall before you need it.

Eye infections caused by false eyelashes

It is very common to see photos on the internet about eye infections produced when a person is using a false eyelash, but there is information that we should know first.

You have to explain to the client that water is not an enemy a false eyelash. You have to wash and brush them daily to keep them clean. This is not going to make our false lashes fall but last longer. We can find many eyelash cleansers in the market, but the most popular today are cleaning foams.

It is necessary to remove all oily substances from our skin, be it makeup, mascara or even the own fat of our skin to maintain the union between the false eyelash and the real one in a perfect state.

That’s why we have to make our clients responsible for cleaning them and explain how they can in just 5 minutes maintain a spectacular look.

When you choose Tigress Beauty as your leading provider of vegan lashes, you can be sure you are using beautiful eyelashes that do not contain any animal-derived components. We have top quality vegan eyelashes that work as an excellent option for those who understand the importance of caring for our animals, and how makeup industry can destroy their lives with irresponsible testing. How to increase the thickness and length of your lashes?

Your eyelashes may improve over the years. Learn to take care of them to achieve an anti-aging effect without having to resort to artificial inserts. Like all the hair of our body, the eyelashes and eyebrows have their life cycle.

They are not eternal and are renewed constantly, although not at the same pace as the scalp. To check if your eyelashes are aging, just look if the amount or length of them is the same as you had a few years ago.

The life cycle of the eyelashes is made up of three stages: growth, rest (when they are at their maximum splendour), and desquamation, which is the last phase and causes the eyelash to fall. This process is repeated throughout life

As the years go by, the follicles or pores where the eyelashes grow weaken (we lose more than we generate), to the point of reaching to stop production. Remember you can also purchase top quality fake eyelashes here at Tigress Beauty.

In addition to age, there are other reasons that cause the loss of eyelashes, among which we highlight the following:

  • Hormonal changes, characteristic from 45 years with the arrival of perimenopause (period that precedes menopause).
  • Rub the lashes with great force
  • Genetic factors
  • Medical conditions
  • Some medications and treatments

To know the changes that occur in your body over the years and learn to maintain youth, register on our free page and see “So we change to 30, 40, 50 and 60+.”

Products to lengthen the eyelashes

To look beautiful lashes, it is best to take care of them as we take care of the appearance of our hair.

We must use good products to make up and remove makeup, to avoid premature fall.

According to the experts, there are many different products to improve lashes, stimulants and conditioners, whose effect is to stimulate the follicles so that the eyelashes grow more. They contain oils, peptides, biotin and other vitamins.

Many of them recommend a nourishing routine for your eyelashes, adapted to your busy professional and personal life. Regularly hydrates your eyelashes with natural castor oil to keep them long, leafy, strong, voluminous, hydrated and nourished; but, above all, healthy. Success lies in equilibrium. That’s why it is recommendable to alternate the regular care of my eyelashes with the special one. A couple of times a year you should apply a serum, while the rest of the time you can use castor oil.

However, both whey and castor oil can be applied daily. It should be done at night, after the cream for the eye contour.

Castor oil is very dense, so the best time to use it is the winter months.

And you, how do you take care of your eyelashes? Have you tried castor oil or any of the products we recommend?

Final tips

Popcorn is recommended to be eaten them with little salt, daily and especially for the snacks, they should cook with little oil and use natural corn, instead of those that are for microwaves, since most contain a lot of fat.

They can also reduce cholesterol levels. Popcorn contains the type of fibre that helps remove excess cholesterol. That is why it reduces total cholesterol levels and decreases the chances of cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis, as well as heart attacks and strokes.

This in turn reduces the pressure on the cardiac system. Therefore, the heart does not have to work so hard to move the blood through clogged vessels and arteries.

Solve the mystery of why popcorn pops

If you ever made homemade popcorn (kids, popcorn, rosettes or popcorn, depending on where you live), you will know that after a few seconds in the heat of the fire, or in the microwave oven, the corn kernels explode producing a characteristic sound that let us know that the snack is ready.

Now, a team of French researchers discovered why they jump as they do and why, in doing so, they produce that particular sound.

As reported in the study published in the journal Royal Society Interface, when the temperature reaches 180 ° C the outer layer opens, regardless of the size and shape of the grain.

The whole process occurs in hundredths of a second.

To understand the details of the transformation, the physicists Emmanuel Virot, of the École Polytechnique, near Paris, and Alexandre Ponomarenko, of the University of Grenoble, recorded the cooking of corn in a microwave with a high-speed camera, at 2,900 tables per second.

For five minutes, the researchers were raising the oven temperature to 10ºC. At 170ºC, only 34% of the grains exploded. When the temperature reached 180º, 96% exploded.

When the temperature exceeded 100 ° C, the moisture contained in the grain began to transform into steam, but when it reached 180 ° C, the pressure inside the grain rose to about ten times the atmospheric pressure at sea level.

Unable to withstand stress, the outer layer opened and the starch interior expanded, forcing its way through the broken layer.

Why does popcorn make that sound when they pop?

Then, the scientists focused on the form of the outbreak. The popcorn grains contain 14% water that evaporates at 100ºC.

The first thing that emerges through the rupture, as revealed by the images, is a structure with the shape of an extremity that they called “pata”. The accumulated energy is released through the “leg” of starch, which forces against the hot plate and pushes the grain a few millimetres or centimetres into the air.

The popcorn has a particular way of popping, say the researchers, they are halfway between plants that explode to disperse their seeds, and muscle animals like humans.

Finally, they devoted themselves to studying the sound produced by the explosion. They discovered that it was not related to the jump, because it happens very early.

Instead, they concluded, it is most likely caused by the rapid and sudden release of steam accumulated in the grain. In addition, once the grain bursts, the cavities that form act as acoustic chambers.

Remember that here at Snow Flow you will find top quality popcorn machines for hire at a very competitive price and they will surely surpass your expectations. Why should you drink more hot chocolate?

The delicious taste of milk chocolate is not the only good thing we can enjoy. But this drink also presents a series of properties that can provide health benefits beyond what everyone might think.

Learning to use a chocolate fountain for hire in New South Wales is simple, since you only have to choose the source model wisely, assemble it well and serve great sandwiches next to the melted chocolate. You can rent a top chocolate fountain for hire in Adelaide today here at Snow Flow. Contact us today and we will ready to assist you and make sure your chocolate fountain for hire in New South Wales is working properly and you are using an appropriate type of chocolate for the fountain or hot chocolate dispenser.

A wonderful antioxidant

A group of researchers from Cornell University found that the concentration of antioxidants in a cup of hot chocolate is double that of a glass of red wine. Their studies also showed that it is 3 times better than green tea and 5 times more effective than black tea. But the fact that it is cocoa is not the only influencing factor: that it is hot also helps the heart. Apparently, when chocolate is hot, cocoa provides even more antioxidant properties. Foods that have antioxidants have a positive impact on our entire body and, of course, also on our hearts.

Numerous benefits

The antioxidant effect is not the only advantage of consuming this exquisite drink. According to recent studies, one cup of hot chocolate has 611 milligrams of gallic acid, a compound used to treat diabetes, kidney problems and internal bleeding.

Flavanols and their benefits

Despite containing more calories and sugar than natural milk, it is recommended to consume it in moderation, taking into account the 210 calories that each glass contains approximately. The science continues its investigations and brings good news to all lovers of hot chocolate. It turns out that this magnificent drink not only comforts the heart, but actually contributes to your health. The most recent research even catalogues it as one of the most beneficial drinks at the heart level even above red wine and tea.

Two other studies published by the American Aging Association and the British Journal of Nutrition reveal that people who consume cocoa in their diet benefit not only from the magnificent taste of this food but also from flavanols. Flavanols stimulate and enhance cardiac functions and may even help to decrease the effects of aging of the heart and arteries. These investigations also indicate that ingesting flavanols on a regular basis reduces the risk of heart disease.

Before taking several cups of hot chocolate per day pause to reflect on this. The chocolate bars that are used in general to submerge in submarines contain saturated fats that produce harmful effects in your body. It also does not help that you go to the nearest Starbucks and buy a glass of this drink especially for the amount of sugar they have. In any case, choose to make your next cup of black chocolate with no added sugars. Remember also that it is advisable to take it with skim milk.

Did you imagine that hot chocolate could be so beneficial to your body? As you can see, the benefits of this drink are unexpected but very numerous. Just make sure you consume the right chocolate and incorporate the milk that contains the least amount of fat possible. You can try, for example, with almond or coconut milk.

Bamboo an unbeatable construction material

The bamboo under construction is an unbeatable material used from more remote antiquity by man to increase your comfort and well-being. In the world of plastic and steel today, bamboo continues to contribute its centennial contribution and is still growing in importance.

The international technical cooperation programs have recognized the exceptional qualities of bamboo and are carrying out an extensive exchange of varieties of that plant and the knowledge related to its use. In six Latin American countries, projects are currently underway to test and select outstanding varieties of bamboo harvested from around the world, and also to determine the potential place of this material in the local economy. These projects, which are now part of the technical cooperation program of the fourth point, have been taking place for several years and some of them have already reached a stage of development in which the multiplicity of uses of bamboo has become a stimulating reality.

ASC Building is the leading provider of building supplies here in Australia. Contact us today for more information.

Description

In regions where bamboo grows, the climate is generally warm and humid, which leads to the use of materials with low thermal storage capacity and designs that allow cross ventilation. Bamboo constructions fully satisfy these requirements, which explains their use in these areas.

The bamboo walls cannot be built to be airtight and leakproof, so cross ventilation is inherently provided, providing a pleasant and moisture-free environment.

The flexibility and high resistance to stress make the bamboo wall highly resistant to earthquakes, and in case of collapse, its light weight causes less damage; the reconstruction is quick and easy.

Specialized labor is required to work bamboo, but in areas where bamboo grows they are traditional.

The biggest disadvantages are due to its relatively low durability (due to biological attacks), and low resistance to hurricanes and fire, so protection measures are essential.

Bamboo houses

The single bamboo can be used to make parts of a house other than the fireplace. In most cases, however, bamboo is combined with other building materials such as wood, clay, lime, cement, galvanised iron, and palm leaves, according to their relative efficiency, availability, and cost.

The use of bamboo as a building material, whether primary, secondary, or occasional is common in areas where adequate bamboo grows in sufficient quantity. The importance of bamboo in any given region is usually determined by the economic level of the common people for the position of other more durable materials. The structural solidity.

Adapted to the demands of local conditions, it is commonly achieved with bamboo, but usually a general monotony in design and a mediocre level of execution characterize bamboo houses in many regions.

In certain cultural areas, however, and especially at very high economic levels, such as among the educated parts of Japan, Java and Malaysia, bamboo is employed architecturally in forms that are distinctive and basically artistic. Cohen, indirectly, alludes to this recognition of the special virtues of bamboo; “The main post in a Japanese house characterizes the house as soon as quality and construction are considered.”

Roofs

The structural elements of the roof are fixed to the post, and allow a properly built house to stand despite earth tremors and operations. The author has seen many houses in which the main post is a sturdy bamboo or where he adds character to a wooden pole by coating it with bamboo. The bamboo has the following characteristics that make it a convenient and economical material for the construction of the house as well as for the scaffolding that facilitates the construction:

The natural units, rods or bamboo canes as they are called, are of measures and forms that make them manageable, storable and systematized, conveniently and economically.

The reeds have a characteristic physical structure that provides them with high resistance in relation to their weight. They are round or almost round in their cross section, usually hollow, and with rigid transverse partitions, strategically placed to avoid breaking when bending. Within the concentrates on the external surface. In this position they can act more efficiently, providing mechanical strength and forming a firm and resistant shell.

The substance and texture of the reeds makes it easy to divide them by hand into short pieces (sawing or cutting them), or into narrow strips (splitting them). No expensive machines are needed, just simple tools.

The natural surface of many bamboos is clean, hard and smooth, with an attractive color, when the canes have been conveniently stored and matured. Bamboos have little waste and no bark to eliminate.

Foundations

Examples of the use of bamboo poles, instead of a conventional foundation for affordable houses, can be seen in both hemispheres. Unless they are treated with a chemical preservative, it is not to be expected that such poles will last an average of two or three years or five years, at most, in rare favorable conditions. Although there is no experimental data, it seems reasonable to expect that the durable classes of bamboo canes may last for a longer time, driven into the soil, by the application of pentachlorophenol in an appropriate form.

While studying suitable and economical treatments for the preservation of bamboo under conditions of frequent wetting or in contact with moist soil, it is considered appropriate to use for the foundations some material that is better than untreated bamboo, for example concrete, stone, brick, or some hard wood.

If bamboo is used as support in low-cost houses, the rods should have a larger diameter, thick walls and closer knots, to provide maximum resistance to buckling. When it is not possible to obtain large pieces of bamboo, it is convenient to use small bamboos, with adequate structural characteristics, moored and forming composite pillars.

Here at ASC Building Supplies you will find all the supplies you need to renovate or complete your house construction and make sure the final result is up to your expectations in terms of functionality and visual appeal.

Basic Rules of Safety at Work

The improvement of safety, health and working conditions ultimately depends on the collaboration of people who work together, whether employers or workers. Security management includes the functions of planning, identification of problem areas, coordination, control and direction of safety activities in the work, all with the aim of preventing accidents and diseases. It is often misunderstood what accident prevention means, since most people mistakenly believe that “accident” is equivalent to “injury”, which presupposes that an accident is unimportant unless it leads to an injury. Construction managers are obviously concerned about workers’ injuries, but their main concern should be the hazardous conditions that cause them, the “incident” rather than the “injury” itself. In a construction site there are many more “incidents” than injuries. A dangerous action can be done hundreds of times before it causes an injury, and efforts should be concentrated on eliminating those potential dangers: you cannot expect human or material damage to do anything.

Contact us today to learn more about top quality scaffolds. Here at Construction Safety Albury you will find all the information needed.

So, security management means taking security measures before accidents occur. An effective security management pursues three main objectives:

Safety rules

Safe and healthy working conditions do not happen by chance: employers must have a written policy of safety in the company that establishes the health and safety standards they intend to achieve. Said policy shall appoint the chief in charge of applying the rules and authorized to delegate responsibilities to the management and the supervisors at all levels for the fulfillment of the same. The security policy must cover the following aspects:

  • Devices to provide training at all levels. It is necessary to pay special attention to workers in key positions, such as those who build scaffolding and handle cranes, whose mistakes can be especially dangerous for others;
  • Safe working methods or systems for risky operations; the workers who carry out these operations must participate in its preparation;
  • Duties and responsibilities of supervisors and workers in key positions;
  • Devices to disclose health and safety information;
  • Measures to establish security commissions;
  • Selection and control of subcontractors.

Organisation of security

The organization of security in a construction site will depend on the size of the construction, the employment system and the way in which the project is organised. It is necessary to keep safety and health records that facilitate the identification and resolution of problems of that nature.

In construction projects where subcontractors are used, the contract must establish the responsibilities, duties and safety measures that are expected of the work force of the subcontractor. Said measures may include the supply and use of certain safety equipment, methods for the execution of specific tasks in a safe manner, and the inspection and proper handling of tools. The person in charge of the work must also verify that the materials, equipment and tools brought to it comply with the minimum safety standards.

Training should be provided at all levels: management, supervisors and workers. It may also be necessary to train subcontractors and their workers in the safety procedures of the work, since different teams of specialised workers can affect their mutual safety.

Safety supervisor

Construction companies of any size must appoint one or several duly qualified persons whose main and special responsibility will be the promotion of safety and health. Whoever is appointed must have direct access to the executive director of the company, and among his duties will be:

  • The organization of information that will be transmitted from the management to the workers, including those who work for subcontractors;
  • The organization and conduct of safety training programs, including basic training for construction workers;
  • The investigation and study of the circumstances and causes of accidents and occupational diseases, in order to advise on preventive measures;
  • Provide consulting services and technical support to the security commission;
  • Participate in the previous planning of the work.

To fulfil these functions, the security officer must have experience in the industry and have adequate training, as well as belong to a recognised professional association of safety and health, in the countries where they exist.

Workers

Every worker has a moral duty to exercise maximum care for their own safety and that of their colleagues. There are several ways to achieve the direct participation of workers in the preparation of the work, such as:

  • Previous instruction sessions: meetings of five to ten minutes with the supervisors before beginning the task, giving these and the workers the opportunity to consider the security problems that may arise, and their possible solution. It is a simple activity that can prevent serious accidents;
  • Safety control: proof that workers perform to verify the safety of the environment before starting an operation and allows them to take preventive measures to correct situations of risk that could then endanger them or other workers.

Safety commissions

A dynamic security commission is a great incentive. Its primary purpose is for the management and workers to collaborate in monitoring the safety plan of the work, to prevent accidents and improve working conditions. Its size and number of members will depend on the size and nature of the work under construction and the different legal provisions and social circumstances of the countries in question, but it must always be an action-oriented group in which both the management and the management are represented. Workers. Inspections of the work by the full commission raise awareness of safety.

The duties to be fulfilled by a dynamic security commission will include:

  • Regular and frequent meetings at the construction site to consider the safety and health program and make recommendations to management;
  • Study of security personnel reports;
  • Analysis of reports on accidents and diseases in order to make preventive recommendations;
  • Evaluation of improvements introduced;
  • Study of the suggestions presented by the workers, especially by the security representatives;
  • Planning of educational and training programs and information sessions, and participation in them.

Plan and layout of the work

The sequence or order in which tasks and especially dangerous processes or operations will be carried out.

The access of workers to the work and its surrounding areas. The routes must be free of obstructions and risks such as falling materials, equipment and vehicles. Appropriate warning signs should be posted. The roads to and from the toilets, changing rooms, etc., require similar consideration. It will be necessary to install protections on the edges of wells and stairs, and in any place where there is a fall of two meters or more to the vacuum.

Ways to move vehicles. They should be one-handed, as far as possible. Traffic congestion is harmful. The bad ordering of the work and the lack of space prevent the safe movement of workers and vehicles and are the cause of accidents.

Companies like Construction Safety Albury are concerned about providing efficiency and safety to perform any type of work at heights, complying with the technical standards and corresponding accreditations.

Getting to know moths, how harmful are they?

One of the most common insects that often invade our homes are the annoying moths, some bugs with wings that sneak into the cupboards and cupboards to destroy everything they find there. The worst of the case is that not only destroy our clothing and eat our food, but also end up with the wood of doors, windows and furniture, becoming a real headache.

Fortunately, getting rid of them is not as difficult as some think, and this time, we decided to talk a little about these animals and give you some tips that will help you get them out of your life and your home once and for all.

Here at Brisbane Terminator we will provide you with the services you need to keep your building or house free from moths.

What are moths?

It is a type of insect belonging to the lepidopteran order, in which the butterflies are also found. This group is composed of a total of 180,000 species and only 10% corresponds to the diurnal butterflies, since the rest is made up of moths and nocturnal moths.

Perhaps you think of these little animals as simple butterflies, but, while they bear a huge resemblance, there are some characteristics that serve to differentiate one from the other. For example, moths tend to be more active during the night, while butterflies are more active during the day. In addition, the antennae of the moths can vary in shape (like feathers or ridges), while the butterflies usually have antennae in the form of thread and with small balls at their tips.

On the other hand, the body of a moth is more robust to the eye, like hairy, and its wings are usually thicker compared to those of the butterflies. Finally, the colour of the moths is opaque and not very colourful, although there are some exceptions to this rule.

What causes the appearance of moths?

Now that you have an idea of what moths are, you may be interested in knowing the causes of their appearance.

Well, generally, these animals love to settle between all kinds of cracks, so if your house is full of them, it is very likely that you experience an infestation because of these bugs. As a solution to this problem, you must take care to seal all the cracks, otherwise, the moths will expand and become a real plague.

Another factor that greatly influences the appearance of these insects is lighting. The rooms with low light and that also have cracks everywhere are the perfect place for the lodging of the moths, since these bugs are better developed in dark conditions.

Likewise, having plants with flowers inside homes can be another cause of an infestation, since some species usually feed on the nectar of flowers during a stage of their life, and an example of these are the so-called Miller moths.

What causes the appearance of moths?

Occasionally, moths often invade homes because of products that have been previously infested, as they may be hidden in the fabrics or in the foodstuffs. In this case, we are the ones who encourage their appearance and proliferation, even when there are no cracks in our walls, low lighting conditions or plants inside, because the introduction of these bugs to our homes is at our expense.

Are my clothes and wood in danger?

Fortunately, of all the species of moths that exist in the world, only a few feeds on fabrics and wood. However, it is very likely that these types of animals appear among our clothes if they have not been washed and have remained for a long time or in the cupboard drawers. In addition, moisture in the wood is attractive to these insects, who do not hesitate to use it as a hiding place.

Finally, these animals can also appear among books that are not cleaned or shaken frequently, since they accumulate dust particles and this is very attractive.

Types or species of moths

As we have said before, there are thousands of types or species of moths, but this time we will talk about the most common and problematic for human beings.

Case moth

They have been called that way because they are able to manufacture and drag their larvae that develop and feed thanks to the fabric of the clothing.

Clothing Weaving Moth

This species is characterised by feeding on fabrics such as wool, leather, and silk, and can kill the cabinets, beds, and equipment of infested houses if it is not detected and eliminated in time.

Carpet moth

These bugs are the most common in most homes and, as the name implies, they usually nest among the carpets, feeding on the fabric.

Moth of stored grains and herbage

This category includes many other species, among which are the wax moth and the lesser moth of bees. These insects feed on all kinds of grains and grasses that are stacked in pantries and other storage places.

Potato moth

This particular species usually attacks the herbaceous plants of great economic importance, and one of them is the potato. To make matters worse, these animals are able to finish not only with the plant, but also with the product already harvested, so they represent a huge threat to agriculture.

Moth of the books

Also called book louse, it is one of the most abundant and common moth species in homes. Most of the time, these insects attack books that have been stored for a long time, feeding on the dust and fungi that grow between their leaves.

Bite or sting of moths

Most moths are harmless to humans, they only bite wood and other materials that serve as food, and rarely attack people. However, while some of these insects feed on fruits and organic waste, there are certain specimens that prefer to feed on the blood of humans and other vertebrates. An example of this are the so-called vampire moths found in Siberia, which respond to the name of Calyptra and have the ability to suck fluids for more than 20 minutes.

Anyway, although these animals are practically harmless, some of them can attack us and leave us a small wound resulting from their bite, which although it is not very common, there is still a small probability of occurrence.

Getting rid of moths forever. Some tips and things to keep in mind

The moths are considered especially dangerous at the crop level, since they consume the nectar of the flowers, the sap of the plants and even the fruits of the same. However, they are not harmful to the health of human beings, unless it is the blood-sucking species.

However, there are some species whose scales on their wings can cause allergic reactions in sensitive people, although it is not an imminent risk or an extremely serious problem. However, there is a particular type of moth, known as the caterpillar of the flannel moth or cat’s moth, whose poisonous hairs can cause pain and rashes on the skin, and in more serious cases, can cause swelling, nausea and problems for the skin.

Finally, we must not forget that the existence of the moths represents a risk for our homes and for those who inhabit them, since, although they do not usually attack us, they tend to devastate the wood and the bases of the constructions, which can cause the structure weakens and ends up falling.

If you want to ensure your house is safe from bugs, cockroaches and other insects, contact Brisbane Terminator today.

The first one is usually the best of both options, although its execution is not as easy as some people think, and it practically involves the methods of freezing, eliminating oxygen and using gamma rays.

As far as chemical methods are concerned, they are considered quite dangerous for health, so they must be used with great care, especially if it is pentachlorophenol, whose toxicity can affect people and the environment, making it essential to use face masks. carbon during its application in outdoor environments.

If you decide to use an insecticide in liquid format, it is important to have an injector that facilitates the application for each and every one of the holes, and finish with a brush or brush for a better distribution and absorption of the product.

On the other hand, if it is insecticides in solid format, these should be placed on the surface of the affected furniture and then covered with a hard plastic, so that it remains sealed for 15 days. Of course, the procedure must be carried out in an open space without any objects or garments inside.

After a year from the date of fumigation, it will be enough to inject a little insecticide in liquid format in the holes where the problem persists and the matter will be solved.

Home remedies to kill moths

If fumigation with chemical products and physical treatment are not the most appealing solution for you, you may be interested in trying some home remedies that we consider quite effective to eliminate these annoying bugs.

To do this, you must put the crushed leaves in a glass container and then fill it with enough oil so that they are barely covered. Then, you must leave the mixture at rest for at least a month and, after that time, you can use it to rub the wood of the furniture that has been infested by these insects.

Naphthalene sachets are one of the oldest tricks to get rid of moths, like paradichlorobenzene and camphor. If you do not have naphthalene, you can replace it with grains of black pepper, dried mint leaves or sage, and even by flowers of lavender, just remember to deposit them in cloth bags so they are not watered over there or stain the clothes of your drawers.

What do I do before the appearance of pests in my home?

Household pests are one of the most common domestic problems, and they vary depending on the weather conditions that exist. Now that summer is approaching with high temperatures, it is important to have homemade tricks to avoid them and the contact of a professional in case you cannot control them by yourself.

Flies, cockroaches, ants or moths are some of the most common household pests in Spanish homes, which even with a home insurance to protect themselves, tend to be a consequence of high temperatures and the lack of preventive measures. Before calling a professional or taking home fumigation measures, it is important to take into account some specific recommendations for their eradication.

First it is necessary to know that pests are prone to appear in rustic areas or surrounded by gardens, as well as in the old buildings that are usually in the urban centers of large cities. As already mentioned, the high temperatures stimulate its spread: German cockroaches and rodents increase their reproductivity in places with more than 20 degrees, a detail that cannot be overlooked, as both species put our health and our material goods at risk: A plague of mice inside the house can put our electrical circuit at risk and cause short circuits that can turn into fires.

Here at Able Building Inspection you will find specialized professionals that can tell you if you have pests in your building and how to keep them under control.

How to know if we have a plague?

The first indicator is the frequency with which you see these little animals hanging around your house. A single cockroach or a couple of ants around a piece of food on the floor are not enough to declare the plague, but if killing a couple does not solve the problem you can consider a complete fumigation. Another sign is the remains of excrement that leave or nests that you can easily see (like the ants, which have the appearance of small piles of earth), they indicate that they are making life in your house and that you must take more drastic measures for its elimination.

Is a complete fumigation necessary?

The complete fumigation depends on the magnitude of the problem. There are easy-to-apply treatments that can last from 30 minutes to days and even weeks, but which can eradicate the problem and offer alternatives for containment. However, if the plague affects the entire building, the problem is not solved by eradicating only the one from your home, which makes it necessary to completely fumigate the property that involves, in the case of rodents and cockroaches, up to six services at year.

Usually the specialized companies make an initial diagnosis and based on this, the type of fumigation that will be carried out is agreed, the pertinent recommendations and other details to be taken into account. It may be necessary to evacuate the home and even spend a couple of days away, depending on how complex it is. At the end of the process, the company must deliver to the community a certificate of pest control, which in the case of commercial establishments, is necessary to accredit the fumigation treatment before the sanitary authorities.

Later methods of pest control

Once the fumigation has been completed, it is essential to take extreme measures of hygiene and cleanliness so as not to suffer a regrowth of the pest. It is also important to reinforce the fumigated space with insecticides to eliminate any invasion attempts, such as gels to kill cockroaches or the implementation of thermonebulizers of pests in the case of mosquitoes and other flying species.

As for home methods to scare away rats and insects, we can use a spray of apple cider vinegar with water and sprinkle it all over the house; This mixture is very effective to scare mosquitoes and prevent them from making life in your house. We can also resort to laurel, very effective to scare away cockroaches because they cannot stand their smell; in that case, we can put one or more leaves in corners where they can nest and we will be able to frighten them away.

How to act

The professionals of the sector of the disinfection of houses maintain that to obtain the effectiveness in the control of a plague it is necessary to consider three aspects:

  • A diagnosis of the area affected by the pest must be made to identify and classify the species to be combated.
  • You have to identify the factors conducive to their development and inspect the critical control points.
  • It is necessary to establish some necessary correction measures:
  • Physical measures: to prevent the entry of insects and rodents and an optimal level of cleanliness to avoid the proliferation of the pest.
  • Biological measures: use biological products that ensure control of the pest.
  • Chemical measures: use different compounds that are chosen according to the characteristics of the surface in question, the pest to be treated, the temperature and humidity conditions, etc.

2 fundamental actions

Disinfection It is a sanitation technique to destroy pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses and fungi) by spraying and spraying chemicals. It is about maintaining the levels of microbial contamination within the limits considered acceptable, from the sanitary point of view. The disinfection of homes is often done with chemical agents, which are toxic to microorganisms, but have minimal impact on human beings and the environment. Using a micro-diffuser, the disinfectant is emitted fragmented into very small drops that are distributed evenly throughout the house. The main advantages of this environmental disinfection are:

  • Makes a homogeneous distribution of the disinfectant to reach all surfaces of the house.
  • Eliminates all microorganisms, even the most resistant ones.
  • A wide variety of highly effective and versatile products are used, which are not harmful to man.

Fumigation is a more aggressive disinfection technique that is applied to control pests in homes and crops. The method of fumigation in homes or closed environments is based on the application of a gas (such as methyl bromide) that is very harmful to health. Therefore, after the fumigation process has been carried out, the degree of toxicity in the environment must be measured to check if the house can be inhabited again. High temperatures and humidity favor the development of microorganisms. For this reason, the disinfection of the filters and grids of the air conditioners helps to eliminate the bacteria that cause legionellosis, a disease that has affected a large number of people in recent years.

Tips to take care of decks and wooden exterior floors

Modern or rustic, country or city, the magic of the deck does not distinguish styles. It is an all-terrain and you can take over the edges of a pool, a space in the middle of the garden or a corner of a terrace or balcony. In addition, it is undoubted the warmth it causes, as well as its direct connection with nature.

Usually, they are used as a resource to prolong interior spaces, cover unwanted views, create new environments, sectorize and frame stonemasons. As its assembly is with dry work, the transformation of space has the advantage of being carried out quickly and easily.

The construction of a deck is an excellent decision that undoubtedly revalues and prioritizes any property, providing an excellent aesthetic that adds warmth and blends with the natural environment of a garden. As far as colors are concerned, they are very varied and anyone can do it in wood. However, considering the high sun exposure of this type of flooring, it is advisable to use products with high pigmentation and dark tones, since the pigments help to protect the wood from the sun more.

With regard to the wood used, it must always be prepared and treated for its exposure to the outside in order to withstand climatic demands such as rain. It is important to differentiate between the wood used for the pillars and the wood that makes up the platform: pine impregnated with CCA, pine, incense, lapacho, quebracho and timbó are the classes that are most used for the construction of decks.

Branson’s Building Materials offers top quality building materials at excellent price so you can complete your house renovation successfully.

Here are five tips to keep in mind:

1) The deck must be not less than 15 cm raised from the natural floor or subfloor and supported by slats that allow the wood to be aerated when separated from the ground.

2) The drainage slopes must be respected. If a deck does not have a minimum slope for the water to drain, the accumulations of it generate problems of use and drying.

3) For the protection of the atmospheric agents a product specially designed for that purpose must be chosen, that supports the abrasion and not any protector.

4) All the pieces of a deck (support strips, nailing strips, visible slats), must be preserved and protected with the chosen product at least in one hand, but in two before the assembly. In this way surfaces that are then inaccessible will be protected.

5) Also, if possible, it is important to consider the assembly of the deck in parts, so that they can be removed and lifted for maintenance tasks. If this is thought from the design the task is easier and does not require the dismantling of the structure.

Experts say that “Taking into account that a deck, in general, is found in areas where there are chairs, chairs, furniture, and outdoor equipment, it is very important to know what type of products are they will use to preserve the wood from various probably aggressive factors, such as insects, fungi, etc. ”

5 useful tips to protect the wood of a Deck

If you are thinking about incorporating a wooden deck in your patio or garden, we bring you 5 tips so you can design it and protect it in the right way for its longest duration.

Summer is here and we all look for moments of peace, recreation and open air. Therefore, outdoor decoration has a new ally: the decks. Few things are more beautiful in a patio or garden than a wooden space dedicated to relaxation and decorated with style. Let’s see what you need to know to design it and keep it in good condition:

1) Support

The deck will never be directly on the ground, but must be at least 15 cm away from it. For this, it is necessary to support it on slats that prevent the direct contact of the wood with the humidity of the surface of the earth.

It is best to build the structure on special cement piles to mount decks. These will avoid contact with the ground and permanent moisture that could damage the good condition of the lower structure.

2) Drain

Water is one of the main threats to wood. To prevent accumulation and generate moisture problems, it is important to respect the slopes so that the water runs off accompanying the natural terrain. In this way, no water deposits are generated below the structure that could damage the natural fibers of the boards and strips.

3) Protection

A crucial point: all pieces must be strictly protected with one or two hands of a product specially formulated for decks or exterior wood surfaces. It is important to do so before the structure is assembled, since the protection must include the surfaces that will be inaccessible, such as the support strips, the nailing, and the underside of the wood.

4) Resistance

If the deck will be used in the yard or garden, it is important to ensure that it is resistant to atmospheric factors such as sun, rai-n and abrasion. A good product or varnish will preserve the natural appearance of the wood in addition to its protection. It must repel water and prevent the formation of fungi. In the packaging of the special varnish or primer that you use, you must show that your formula has a UV filter to prevent discoloration of the wood, in addition to a high resistance to traffic and long duration.

5) Termination

This may vary according to the personal taste of each one. You can give it a satin or shiny finish. Usually a satin finish highlights the color and veins of the wood, making it look more natural, colorful with a soft and subtle shine. The glossy finish is much more visually luxurious, and repels stains more easily.

The cocktails with fewer calories: how many have a gin and tonic?

Here are some of the cocktails with fewer calories so you can identify them on your party nights.

For me a gin and tonic! An afternoon with friends on a terrace, a romantic dinner or a day at the beach in a heavenly place well deserve a good cocktail or combined to make the most glamorous plan. Without a doubt, it’s a refreshing and fun option but also … caloric! Of course, only if you choose the inappropriate cocktail. And is that not all varieties have the same caloric intake. The important thing is to know which is the richest and, also, which contains fewer calories. To know what else, here we leave a list with the most caloric alcoholic beverages.

But the vast majority of the most famous and appetizing cocktails are real bombs. It is difficult to find one that contributes less than 200 calories. A mojito, for example, has 217 approximately and a pina colada 230. The Peruvian pisco sour, is the most caloric of all: a single glass of pisco contributes more than 349 calories!

So, we are going to discover some of the cocktails with fewer calories so you know which one to choose if you do not want to commit too many excesses.

Remember that here at Daiquiri Hire Melbourne you will find everything you need to prepare delicious cocktails to make your parties even greater.

Calories from gin and tonic

Gin and tonic is undoubtedly the cocktail of the moment. The gin specialty bars proliferate at the same pace as the flavours and essences with which this drink can be flavoured. Options: all those that come to mind. But when we talk about calories, things change. A classic gin and tonic have, more or less, 171 calories. It is not the most caloric but not the least. An option to reduce the number of calories. Choose a light tonic if they have it.

Mojito … in light version?

A classic among classics. As we mentioned before, a conventional mojito is usually around 200 calories. However, in mojitos, as in many other cocktails, it is possible to make small variations to get a slightly less caloric and almost equally delicious formula.

For example, instead of using lime, try sparkling water and lemon juice; or instead of sugar try some other low-calorie sweetener. It is not exactly the same but if your goal is to keep the line, a mojito made with these ingredients is around 140 calories. A breakthrough!

Cosmopolitan, the blueberry glamor

The mythical drink of the girls in Sex and the City of New York was not only because of its exquisite flavour, but surely because it is also one of the most light options in alcoholic drinks. A glass of this cocktail round the 123 calories. And if instead of the classic cranberry juice you use unsweetened cranberry juice and two tablespoons of water to reduce it, you will reduce your caloric level a little more, up to 105 per cup, approximately.

Bloody Mary, vegetables to power!

Vodka, tomato, lemon… Apparently this looks like a cocktail of the lightest, and the figures do not deceive. A cup of Bloody Mary is around 123 calories. Although it is not suitable for stomachs and delicate palates due to its strong flavour and spicy touch, it must also be recognised that the fact that it is made with tomato juice is a point in favour of other sweeter mixtures. To decorate, try shrimp, pickles, celery or other vegetables. If you accompany it with something so “healthy”, you will be less hungry to peck the appetizer and, you want it to not, those are also calories that you subtract!

Martini, the elegant temptation

A classic Martini is another of the lowest-calorie cocktails: 160 calories per each. This elegant drink is a good option if you want to enjoy a drink in the appetizer, but remember that if you want to keep the line and you are counting each calorie you ingest (something that you should not, by the way, then do not obsess , but take care), you can avoid eating their appetizing olives. Each of them has between 9 and 12 calories, which seems little, but if you take three martinis and each one has two, they are already about 60 calories that you save.

Non-alcoholic cocktails: more or less light?

Cocktails do not have to contain alcohol to be delicious. And, today, the letter of the alcohol free mixes is almost as wide as that of classic cocktails. So, there is no reason to give up a good drink at any time. In fact, most cocktails usually have the non-alcoholic version.

Of course, these drinks also tend to have a high caloric content because they contain ingredients to achieve a certain texture and enhance the flavour that usually have calories. They usually use fruit juices, nectars, syrups, milk and large amounts of sugar. A San Franciso, for example, contains 179 calories and that’s just a sophisticated multi-tasking.

So, what are the most refreshing and low-calorie soft drinks? Iced tea, homemade lemonade or natural fruit juices are, without doubt, the best option because, apart from being rich, they hydrate and provide vitamins and nutrients.

The keys to a good cocktail

You may now want to try some of the lighter versions of the cocktails that we proposed. And, for that, much better at home! This way you can be sure that the ingredients your cocktail has are just what you want or, why not, you can invent your own. For that, it is essential that you know what the basic keys are to prepare any cocktail. Take note!

  • When preparing a cocktail, you have to take into account the tastes of the guests. A cocktail too strong, bitter or acid is not always liked by all palates.
  • The key is in the ingredients that are chosen and the way to combine them. According to experts, you should not mix more than five ingredients in the same cocktail, and there always has to be a balance between them. None of the ingredients or aromas have to stand out above the rest, the combination has to be harmonious.
  • What is the best proportion? Two parts of acid for each one of sweet and bitter.
  • There is not much to drink. Only 40% of the cocktail is refreshing. The rest is made up of the rest of the ingredients.
  • The gas always has to be exhausted at the end.
  • Decorating a cocktail with a fruit, an edible flower or an umbrella is essential.

Remember that your selection of cocktails will give your party a personal touch, you can try with Daiquiri Hire Melbourne, you can hire one of our slushy machines and make premium quality daiquiris.

Making the most of natural daylight with external venetian blinds

Make the most of the luminosity that your home receives to enjoy the best lighting project at all times. Light curtains, light colours and communicated environments will be your allies.

We often think of light only from a functional point of view, without taking into account that even the most dull space can take on a new dimension with a studied lighting. And, on the contrary, the best interior design can end up tarnished with a bad one.

Buy your external shade blinds today at a very competitive price and they represent a superior level of quality today. Here at External Venetian Blinds you will find them. Contact us Today.

  1. Do not leave it for the end

A good lighting project requires a careful planning that allows you to have the right electrical outlets in the correct places -in the case of renovation-, choose the luminaires that go with the space, according to the use that will be made of it and our tastes -and that Perhaps it is a warm and diffuse light that should be placed on a cornice or in the outline of the false ceiling and not a dazzling lamp hanging in the centre of the room.

  1. In the right amount

Although the ‘it is better than not missing’ can work in certain cases, such as family meals and little else, it is not so when lighting an environment. An overlit room can turn out to be unpleasant, since it flattens out the forms making it look like a decoration without nuances, not to mention the expense in electricity that it entails.

To choose the right intensity for each space, think about the use you will make of it and the atmosphere you are looking for. Thus, for example, workplaces such as the study, the kitchen or even the bathroom courtesy area will require a white light, powerful and better direct, while others such as the hall, the social area of the living room or the bedroom will benefit more than warmer and yellowish lights, with a medium level of intensity and, if possible, diffuse.

  1. One light is not enough

Maybe that design lamp has taken you weeks of research and you want to give it the prominence it deserves by placing it in the middle of the ceiling. Perfect, but you should know that, fantastic as that main light is, it is not enough to light an entire room.

Make sure to complete this general lighting with other auxiliary lamps placed strategically: in the corners to clearly delimit the dimensions of the room and enhance the sense of spaciousness; next to the gathering area, to fill and create atmosphere; on the countertop in the kitchen and the mirror in the bathroom, to be able to work and clean up; on the desk or reading seat… Analyse the uses of each space to discover the necessary points of light and complete it with other highlights to create an environment rich in nuances.

  1. Lights and shadows

Armed with all the necessary lamps, they must be placed correctly. For example, in the bathroom or the kitchen, a light just above our head will make us look like a character from ‘The walking dead’ -especially early in the morning- and that we overshadow ourselves when preparing lunch. In the first case, it is better to place sconces in the mirror or on both sides of the mirror to illuminate the face completely while in the second, it is ideal to install lights in the lower part of the cabinets.

  1. Temperature question

Does your bedroom look like an operating room, because of its white, stark light? Or, on the contrary, in the bathroom does a yellow light make the colour of our preferred eye shadow look different? The colour temperature of the different light sources can distort the ambience of a room if it is not chosen properly. This is specified in its container, in degrees Kelvin and, in general terms, the lower the value, the warmer the light; the highest values indicate that the light is colder.

  1. The size does matter

Beyond their style (tastes, colours), the lamps we choose must fit the dimensions of the space they are intended for. A very small one arranged on a good-sized dining table will not only look disproportionate but will leave areas of the surface unlit.

To get the dimensions right, decide the place where you will be placed before going to buy any piece – fantastic as it seems to you – and keep in mind that the lamp stores may seem smaller than they really are.

  1. Saving but being smart

Do you tremble when the electricity bill arrives? Maybe it’s time to reconsider all those halogens that dot the roof of the house – absolutely ineffective – but it’s not about going crazy and placing energy saving lamps everywhere. There are many types of light bulbs and each has its application that should be known.

In corridors, bathrooms or dressing rooms it is better to opt for lamps such as halogen low consumption, for its clear and bright light from the moment you turn them on

  1. LED is the right option

Consume less and last longer, so it is easy to fall into the temptation to replace all sources of light in the house by LEDs. In addition to taking into account the characteristics of other lamps already mentioned, which will allow us to create a rich and varied lighting environment, before launching to buy these ‘light-emitting diodes’ hands full note that the quality of the chosen is fundamental.

Nothing like natural daylight

You know what power, colour temperature and system is best for lighting your home but you have not stopped to think about one of the most important points: the natural light that you receive and how to integrate it into the lighting project. The truth is that a good use of this resource will not only make the whole show in all its glory, but it can mean an important saving in terms of energy consumption.

Here at External Venetian Blinds you will find top quality external shade blinds that you can use in your house or business.

How to remove stains from the carpet: from rust to red wine

To keep the carpet in perfect condition, the main thing is to clean them frequently, and for that, it is best to follow a vacuum cleaner.

You have to do it with patience, allowing time for the machine to do its job and remove all the dirt. The type of vacuum cleaner to use depends on the type of carpet: for the ones with cut hair, those with a brush are recommended. The brush helps to extract the dust that is hidden among the loose fibers of the surface. For bouclé carpets, on the other hand, the most suitable are tube and cylinder (similar to home) carpets.

Even if your house is in order, a stained carpet can make it look untidy and careless. To make your home look renewed and clean, it is also necessary to remove stains from carpets. But how to do it? Knowing how to remove stains from carpets is not an easy task, because certain stains are more impregnated in the fibres than others. In this article, you will find solutions to remove even the most difficult spots. While these suggestions give good results in most cases, it is useful to keep in mind that the total removal of the spots depends on the type of carpet.

We followed the specific washing instructions of your carpet so as not to damage it and, if you use commercial products, always read the instructions on the label. It is advisable to do a test in a small and inconspicuous area to verify that it does not cause adverse effects. How to remove stains from the carpet: rust stains can be difficult to remove due to their particular chemical composition. The oxide contains iron oxide, and some stain removers with powerful agents can fix this type of stains instead of loosening them. Be sure to use a stain remover specially designed to remove rust stains from the rugs, and thus prevent them from becoming more impregnated; we also recommend you to first make a test on an inconspicuous surface of the material.

The best results are obtained by mixing a carpet stain remover with natural ingredients that attack the rust:

We repeated these steps as many times as necessary until the stain was removed.

Oil stains

Place kitchen paper over the stained area and press continuously. Keep pressing until the paper no longer absorbs oil. Apply a little disinfectant alcohol on the stain, place a white cloth on it to absorb the stain from the surface of the carpet. If the stain does not come out completely, mix a little Detergent with water, apply directly on the stain with a sponge. Rinse the surface.

Black ink

Remove excess ink from the carpet with a dry cloth. Wet a clean cloth with alcohol and pressure to absorb the stain. The alcohol will mix with the ink and this will loosen the stain. The next day, vacuum the surface and you will see how the salt drags the ink stain.

Why sustainability is today the main driver of innovation

In general terms, when talking about ‘sustainable innovation’ the intention is to define those processes that bring together multiple facets so that they do not only refer to research and direct improvement on the environment, but to all those processes in which the media participate. of production, the improvement of the conditions of the workers, passing through the industrial design, the commercialisation or the treatment with the clients.

And from here, the debate between the experts of the sector opens: Is it a passing fad or an adequate concept to define how things are or how they should?

Experts indicate that the term “sustainable” has become a recent trend that accompanies any current issue and even more worrying, in the specific case of innovation the sustainable adjective is being added to processes that, in reality, are not. The name innovation for sustainability, for example, is an integral concept that goes beyond the environmental approach, and also considers the economic, social, political and institutional level of the companies.

This link between innovation and sustainability is right from the point of view of corporate social responsibility strategies. There is a strategic purpose that involves significant areas of resources, processes, relationships with interest groups and change management. This is actually what we might consider the so-called virtuous circle of responsible innovation, which starts from the innovative responsibility and achieve responsible innovation.

Specialised studies that the innovation potential is still very close to traditional sectors while there are great possibilities and market niches in emerging sectors as well as new sources of employment. The results of the study only show that most companies are only a in moderately innovative economy when it is precisely essential to consolidate in all agents the idea that innovation and competitiveness are two concepts strongly linked and essential for economic growth.

Here at Applied Innovation we have a team of professionals with a unique combination of leadership and experience to prepare your people to adapt to change.

Why is the innovation-sustainability link so important?

There is no alternative to sustainable development. Even so, many companies are convinced that any effort to adopt environmentally friendly methods will undermine their competitiveness by increasing their costs without generating immediate financial benefits.

The concern arises quickly in the conversations with heads of company, mainly of the United States or Europe: according to them, the sustainability and the development of “green” products puts them in disadvantage in front of their rivals of the developing countries that are not submitted at the same pressures. Suppliers lack the capacity to supply green inputs or ensure transparency; Sustainable manufacturing requires new equipment and processes and, during a recession, the consumer is not willing to pay more for organic products. Hence, most executives consider the need to be sustainable as a social responsibility that is at odds with business objectives.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the struggle to save the planet has become a pitched battle between governments and companies, between them and consumer advocates, and sometimes between them and governments.

Legislation and education are necessary, but not enough to solve the problem quickly or completely. It’s like moving on a tricycle with two wheels that turn forward and the third one backwards. One solution, defended by experts and environmental activists, is to impose ever stricter regulations. In his opinion, it is unlikely that the voluntary action is sufficient. Another group argues that it is necessary to educate and organize consumers to force companies to adopt sustainability.

The main issue with executives

Executives act as if they have to choose between developing products and sustainable processes that provide fundamentally social benefits and the financial cost that implies. But it’s not like that. Having studied for a time the sustainability initiatives of 30 large companies, our research shows that sustainability is a mother lode of good organisational practices and high profitability. Companies that decide to protect the environment reduce costs by rationalising the use of inputs. In addition, this process allows to improve products that generate more income and create new businesses. Since these are precisely the objectives of any business innovation, we saw that smart companies consider sustainability as a new frontier of innovation.

In fact, the search for sustainability is already beginning to transform the landscape of competition, which will force companies to change their way of thinking about products, technologies, processes and business models.

The key to progress, especially in times of economic crisis, is innovation. In the same way that some cyber companies survived the Internet bubble crisis in 2000, resisting traditional operators, sustainable companies will be strengthened from this recession. When considering sustainability as a current objective, the pioneers will be equipped with skills that their rivals will have to match without delay. Then, the consequent competitive advantage will be very useful, since sustainability will always be part of the development.

It will not be easy. Our study shows that companies that take this path go through five stages of change and that each of them poses different difficulties, which requires them to develop new capabilities to overcome them. Tracing meticulously the path of this process will allow them to gain time, which could be decisive, because the time is sounding.

The five stages of the change towards sustainability

  1. Accept sustainability as an opportunity
  2. Make value chains sustainable
  3. Design eco-compatible products and services
  4. Create new business models
  5. Create next-generation practice platforms where customers and suppliers learn to manage energy in totally different ways.

It’s obvious importance of promoting public-private cooperation through actions and agreements to ensure that projects generate tangible results and get to join the productive sector and urged all the public present, architects, designers, businessmen and officials to build a sustainable future.

Nowadays, there is a fast pace for changing in the structure, relationships and processes in the work environments of every business. With our superior change management courses, Applied Innovation is ready to help your organisation adapt to the inevitable changes it’ll be changing.

What types of breasts are there and how to choose the right type of bra

Surely you have ever looked in the mirror and wondered if the shape of your chest is common, or how many types of breast there are. Today we collect 4 common breast shapes, which can be influenced by the type of bra you wear, by the position you adopt on a day-to-day basis, the sporting activity you do or even feed.

Not all breasts are the same, but they do have certain characteristics that encompass them in one type of breast or another, and that will determine their shape and appearance. These are the most common breasts women have.

Round breasts

Women with a breast of this type are characterized by round nipples and a fairly balanced physical appearance. There are usually no inequalities between one and the other and they are quite aligned.

Saggy breasts

In sagging breasts, the nipples point downward and offer a downward appearance. It is usually common in women with a lot of breast or women who have been mothers, since the breast tissue is not as tense as in other women. With a bra for fallen chest, you will get to enhance your chest and stylize it in a natural way.

Small breasts

The great inequality of small breasts is their appearance. They have an aspect and proportion of small volume due to the lack of fat tissue in the chest. To enhance the chest and stylize it thanks to the underwear, appear in the market bras for very small breasts.

Big breasts

Unlike the previous breast type, large breasts arise from excess fat tissue in the breasts. There are bras for very large breasts, with which women will feel comfortable and avoid future problems.

Do you feel identified with any of these types of breasts? Remember that for a deluxe collection you can choose Mary’s Secret Boutique where you will find great underwear that is fashionable and with top quality. Visit our online store!

How to prevent the bra rings from coming off

The most important thing to keep in mind when keeping your bra in perfect condition is the care you give it. There are some small tricks that will delay that the daily use of the bra ends up wearing it in such a way that the hoop ends up coming off. Attentive:

Do not bend the bra. The best option is not to make a fold when it comes to storing the bra. Otherwise, it is easier for the hoops to finally find a way out.

Do not twist the bra. As easy as it is to fasten the bra in front and then turn it to put on the straps is not the most appropriate. In this way, the fabric that forms the bra tends to give way and at any moment can give of itself and make the hoops come out.

Do not wear the bra too tight. Avoid that the bra is key in your skin, first of all for comfort, but also because if it is too tight the fabric suffers and may end up breaking, giving more possibilities to the ring to get out.

How to fix a bra when the hoop goes out

Before pulling a bra because the hoop has come off, you can find a quick and simple solution that will allow you to keep your garment for one more season. You can choose to put a cloth patch, a plaster type tape or sew it. The three options will lengthen the life of your bra and the hoop will once again be hidden in its rightful place, also preventing it from causing a small wound from rubbing.

Now that you know why the bra hoops come off and how to fix the bra rod, you can continue your day with a smile on your face: the bra ring will leave the rebellion aside to give way to the usual comfort.

Choosing the right set of underwear is also very important. Visit our online store and get your set of selected underwear here at Mary’s Secret Boutique.

Tankinis. Advantages and disadvantages of this bathing suit

The beach season is booming, and it is time to decide what will be the garment that will accompany you during the days in which what worries you the most is to turn around in the towel and enjoy the sea breeze and the Sun. Swimsuits or bikinis has always been the most common question at the time of packing, but now the tankinis come into play, a garment with the benefits of both garments and that can solve your problems if you still do not know what to wear on the beach.

Before continuing and explaining the advantages and disadvantages of the tankini, many of you will be wondering what the tankini is. Very easy. It is a bathing suit in two pieces that has the panties of a bikini and a kind of shirt like upper part, covering the belly and the hip completely.

A tankini is the perfect option if you are looking for is to hide the area of the belly, that with a bikini would be outdoors. It differs from a traditional swimsuit by the ease offered by the fabric that acts as a shirt, which does not stick to the body.

Advantages of a tankini

If you want to feel comfortable on the beach without showing too much your body, this is your pledge. The tankini offers the possibility of wearing a bathing suit with the characteristics of a bikini, but that hides the area of the gut, in a way that conceals the small imperfections of that area.

In addition, despite having the same function as a swimsuit, it is much more comfortable to go to the bathroom, it has a panty as if it were a bikini.

Disadvantages of a tankini

In the same way that a swimsuit does not allow the central area of the torso to take the characteristic brown of the beach or of a pool afternoon, the tankini has that disadvantage. The fabric that joins the upper part with the panties of the tankini prevents that area from being exposed to the sun, so if you want to look a uniform tan, you will have to choose another garment.

It is a garment that not only will fulfil its function of subjection. Here at Mary’s Secret Boutique you’ll find a lot of lingerie you can wear and look beautiful.

Introduction to immunisation

Immunisation allows the body to defend itself better against diseases caused by certain bacteria or viruses. Immunity can be produced by the body naturally (when people are exposed to bacteria or viruses) or can be provided by doctors through vaccination. People who are immunised against a disease, do not usually get it, or contract a mild form of it. However, as no vaccine is 100% effective, some people who have been immunised can still get the disease.

In communities and countries where vaccines are widely used, many previously common and / or fatal diseases (such as polio, measles, and diphtheria) are now rare or under control. Only one disease, smallpox, has been eradicated completely by vaccination. The vaccines have been very effective in the prevention of serious diseases and in the improvement of health throughout the world. However, effective vaccines are still not available for many important infections, including Ebola virus infection, most sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia) and many tropical diseases. (like malaria).

Following the recommendations for vaccination is very important for the person’s own health and for the health of his family and the members of his community. Many diseases prevented by vaccines are still present in the United States and are still frequent in other parts of the world. These diseases spread rapidly among unvaccinated children, who, because of the current ease of travel, are exposed even though they live in areas where the disease is not frequent.

The vaccines available today are highly reliable and most people tolerate them well. It is very rare that they cause adverse effects.

Remember that the help of an expert is an excellent option to avoid health problems. Here at Parkwood Green Medical we will assist you and help you adopt proper health habits that will ensure you feel fine.

Types of Immunisation

There are two types of immunisation:

Active immunisation

In active immunisation, vaccines are used to stimulate the body’s natural defense mechanisms. Vaccines are preparations that contain one of the following factors:

  • Non-infectious fragments of bacteria or viruses
  • A toxoid: a substance produced by a bacterium, which is usually harmful (toxin), but which has been modified to render it harmless
  • A complete and live microorganism weakened (attenuated) so that it does not cause the disease

The body’s immune system responds to a vaccine by producing substances (such as antibodies and white blood cells or leukocytes) that recognise and attack specific bacteria or viruses contained in the vaccine. Later, when the person is exposed to said bacteria or virus, the organism automatically produces those antibodies and other substances to prevent or reduce the disease. The process of administering a vaccine is called vaccination, although in some cases the generic term immunisation is used.

Vaccines that contain live but weakened microorganisms are:

  • Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG for tuberculosis)
  • Chickenpox
  • Cholera (certain vaccines that are administered orally)
  • Nasal flu vaccine
  • Measles-mumps-rubella
  • Poliomyelitis (oral vaccine only)
  • Rotavirus
  • Typhoid fever (oral vaccine only)
  • Herpes
  • Yellow fever

Did you know…?

Some vaccines contain a weakened but living form of the virus against which they protect.

Passive immunisation

In passive immunisation, antibodies are directly administered against a specific infectious organism. These antibodies are obtained from various sources:

  • The blood (serum) of animals (usually horses) that have been exposed to a certain organism or toxin and have developed immunity
  • Blood drawn from a large group of people; in which case it is called combined human immunoglobulin concentrate
  • People who have antibodies against a particular disease (ie, people who have been immunised or who recover from the disease), in this case being called hyperimmune globulins, because these people have higher levels of antibodies in the blood

Antibody producing cells (usually obtained from mice) cultured in the laboratory

Passive immunisation is used in people whose immune system does not respond adequately to the infection, or in people who get an infection before being vaccinated (for example, after suffering a bite from an animal affected by rabies).

Passive immunisation is also used to avoid the disease when exposure is likely and the person does not have time to complete a series of vaccinations. For example, a solution containing gamma globulin active against the varicella virus can be administered to a pregnant woman who has no immunity to the virus and who has been exposed to it. The varicella virus can cause damage to the fetus and serious complications (such as pneumonia) to the mother.

Passive immunisation only provides effective protection for a few days or weeks, until the body removes the injected antibodies.

Administration of vaccines

Vaccines and antibodies are usually given by injection into a muscle (intramuscularly) or under the skin (subcutaneously). Sometimes the antibodies are injected into a vein (intravenously). A certain type of flu shot is sprayed on the nose.

More than one vaccine may be administered at a time, either in a combination vaccine or by individual injections, applied in this case in different parts of the body.

Some vaccines are administered systematically: for example, tetanus toxoid is administered to adults, preferably every 10 years. Some vaccines are routinely administered in childhood.

Other vaccines are administered mainly to specific groups of people. For example, the yellow fever vaccine is given only to people traveling to certain parts of Africa or South America. There are also other vaccines that are given after a possible exposure to a specific cause; For example, the rabies vaccine should be applied to people bitten by a dog.

Vaccination restrictions and precautions

For many vaccines, the only reason not to get vaccinated is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction (such as an anaphylactic reaction) to the vaccine or any of its components.

Some vaccines, including most flu vaccines, contain very small amounts of material from eggs. Many people are allergic to eggs, but only those who have suffered severe allergic reactions to eggs should avoid the flu shot. If the person has had less severe reactions to the eggs (such as a rash), they may be given the influenza vaccine containing inactivated viruses, but not the one containing active viruses.

Vaccines containing live viruses should not be used, or should be postponed for people with certain characteristics, such as people with weakened immune systems due to some disorder such as AIDS, or the use of drugs that suppress the immune system (immunosuppressants), such as corticosteroids and antineoplastic drugs.

Remember that here at Parkwood Green Medical you can receive any type of medical assistance from top qualified experts in the area.

5 performance indicators that every leader should know

Indicators are essential tools that will tell you if your business is on the right track or is deviating from your route

The indicators provide information that must be analysed and interpreted to know the behaviour of the company during its operation, and thus be able to manage the company more efficiently.

Indicators are essential tools that will tell you if your business is on the right track or is deviating from your route. Using the right indicators will help you get the right results.

Key performance indicators (KPIs) are the vital navigation tools used by managers to know if the business is on the road to success or if it is getting off the prosperous path. The appropriate set of indicators will show the performance and highlight the areas that need attention.

Without the right KPIs, leaders navigate blindly. The problem is that most managers struggle to understand and identify vital metrics, rather than collecting and reporting a large amount of everything that is easy to measure. As a result, they end up full of data but lacking information.

For KPIs to be the vital navigation tools that help you understand if your business is on the right track or not, you must first define the strategy and then closely link the KPIs to that. Many organizations fall into the trap of retroactive adjustment goals with existing and established metrics: that is simply looking at what was left behind and then flipping forward. The development of KPIs has to start with your strategy and the objectives of the company are the goal to achieve.

An important point is that KPIs should give information and answers to what you need to know. You have to make sure what your information needs are and what questions you want answered before entering any KPI.

It is important to design key performance indicators based on your own circumstances and information needs. However, there are some important (and innovative) KPIs that everyone should know about. They will give you a solid base of knowledge. Although, there will be other more specialized measures designed for your specific strategy or industry context.

What are the performance indicators for?

The measurement system that will define the performance of a certain company will have a set of previously established indicators that must meet the business’ demand, thus analyzing the scope or otherwise of the planned goals. Measuring is important to understand what is happening in the management, what changes should be made and what were the impacts of the changes that have already been made.

In short, to improve it is necessary to measure and you can use different indicators. Next, ready indicators separated by classification in relation to their final objective or related to a specific area of the business.

If you need to have more control of your bookkeeping and finances, here at Nudge Accounting you will find a professional team to help you lower expenses in possible mistakes your current finance plan may have. Contact us today.

We share the main indicators to measure different aspects of companies.

Effectiveness. – Is the ability to achieve a particular result or activity. They relate to the reasons for success. The effectiveness is the degree of fulfillment of a task. You can measure, for example, the percentage of compliance with the production plan and the degree of customer satisfaction in relation to orders.

Of efficiency. – It has to do with the resources used to reach a certain result. It has to do with the costs. It is related to the fulfillment of the task with the minimum expenditure of resources, whether time, labour, materials or expenses; therefore, based on that consideration, the actual expense against the budgeted expense can be considered. It is usually interpreted as the “degree of waste”, considering that a process is said to be efficient when it generates many products with few inputs. Efficiency is an indicator that allows to indicate what quantity of product was generated from the quantity of inputs applied.

Example: average call time to close a sale, total costs, by product, by geographical area, costs by type of customer, among others.

Effectiveness. – They measure the general performance of sales as well as sales trends according to the company’s segmentation. There are two types of indicators to measure effectiveness management: The indicators or sales criteria and the measures of customer satisfaction. The measurement of effectiveness is similar to that of efficiency, although this indicator relates the amount of resources applied to achieve business objectives.

For example, total sales, sales per product line, by geographical area, quantity purchased, brand loyalty degree, to say some.

Performance. – The information it provides is about the performance associated with a task, project or process depending on the methods used for its execution and the way to address it. The metrics they provide help identify weaknesses, strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Example: evaluation of the duration of the telephone calls made and the proportion of closed sales.

Of results.- It refers to the conclusion terms of a task. they refer to the completion terms of a task.

Example: fulfillment of the goal of calls answered by time in a call centre.

For improvement processes, performance indicators are necessary, remember that what you do not measure cannot be controlled and what you do not control cannot be managed.

It is essential to have excellent control and monitoring of the company to determine its long-term viability.

Consulting companies support owners and directors of medium and small companies that want to take their company to the next level and whose social conscience pursues objectives that go beyond economic value because they want to raise the quality of life of both their employees and all those that they touch with their products and services, thus contributing to the positive transformation of the market.

Here at Nudge Accounting we have a specialised ready to assist you with anything related to bookkeeping and professional accountancy.

10 tricks for concert posters, to get the most out of your designs

If you are like most independent artists and you cannot afford professional graphic designers to create your posters, look at these 10 tricks that allow you to do it at zero cost.

If you are looking a leading provider of printing services to help you you establish your brand, here at Morning Star Press you will find more than 50 years of combine experiences ensuring you have the best and most solid image in your area of business.

  1. Choose a template that fits the style of your band.

Example: if your style is R & B, make it clean and simple. Add clear lines and silhouettes of people, perhaps the moon and stars to help describe the atmosphere of the concert, to capture the interest of consumers that could be your audience. On the other hand, a punk rock band would use broken or deformed typography, graffiti and a more grunge global look.

  1. Consider using a black background.

Although the bright colours attract attention, in the majority of flyers that I have used for my band, a black background predominates. A black background is elegant, clean, and always looks professional, especially in music. It’s the same with flyers for DJs and bars. Think of what most bands put behind them in a live concert. A black cloth. It is the same idea. Add bright lights and large and striking letters to put the public’s mind in concert mode simply by looking at an ad before even attending the event. They will be more willing not to leave things half-hearted and attend the concert.

  1. The selection of images and their treatment can work or ruin your poster.

The templates of a single image are less messy. Choose between a large image that draws attention dominating the poster or a small image surrounded by a lot of white space that causes the curiosity of the reader.

With the effects of scratched edges, dyes, torn paper, black and white, investment filters and sepia effects, you can make the whole poster look much more professional in a matter of one click.

Flyers and vintage air announcements are very popular, the look 1950s-70s with smooth backgrounds of old paper or backgrounds of vivid or discoloured colours, bold print and 1 to 3 simple photos of the bands. Add your group photo stained yellow or with an old effect to make it look as old as your grandmother’s birth certificate.

  1. Do not forget important details such as date, place, price of the ticket

BUT do not put the price of the entry so visible that the design is eaten. Put it somewhat smaller and towards the bottom of the flyer, since normally people will look it up and down. An expensive and visible ticket price can make people refuse to go.

Remember to always put the websites or social networks on the poster, including the icons of social networks helps to bring the attention of those who see it to your page, more views = more likes = more public = more presence = closer to success.

  1. Includes an incentive in each concert announcement

Think of something that goes beyond the discount for early purchase, such as a free raffle to win an autographed item, a drink ticket, a discount on food, anything that helps show the connection between the band and the establishment / room / The event helps connect the audience with the event or site as well as with the band. Which means they’ll be more willing to tell your friends, like your page and go back to that particular site.

  1. Create a good disposition toward your band by making donations

If you usually help NGOs or do charity, you have a great way to announce your concert to get more positive feedback. Anyway, you are going to donate, so why not involve your band as a collaborator of some foundations. Example: a drawing of a donation basket for breast cancer in October, during the month of breast cancer awareness. Highlight your cause on the poster of your event.

  1. Always use the holidays as an added attraction

People like winks. If it’s Halloween, dress up and announce a costume contest. The same with other parties. Give more reasons to go to the event. And make your poster more festive!

  1. Resize your poster design to share it on social networks

Post the poster on FB, Twitter, Instagram and any other social network your band uses.

Publish it on your FB page and create an FB event. Remember to make it a public event. Help anyone looking for you to easily know who you are and when your next concert is scheduled. Do it at least a week in advance, and have all the members of the band, family and friends invite everyone on their list. It’s a bit tedious, but it’s worth it.

  1. Earn audience by getting the room to publish the image in their social network accounts.

THIS IS OBLIGED. The halls have to know that they should promote the concert too, and maybe they need to remind them. Do not cut yourself. Many times, it has happened to me that a place has simply forgotten to give the news, or the information they give is wrong. Errors that I could correct talking to the room.

Also think with the room advertising ideas that can be attractive.

  1. Do not forget the press.

Most newspapers and local radio and TV stations have a “culture and entertainment” section or an activity agenda. They usually also have an FB page. Go to them and ask how you can share your FB publication (and poster) with your audience.

Honeymoon in Australia, 10 reasons to spend your honeymoon here

No other country can be seen in two different ways, only Australia has that peculiarity. When people think of Oceania, they wonder if it is an impressive continent that appears on the map in the form of an island or if it is an island with continent proportions.

This image has been born from the ancient legends of the aborigines, which, acclimated and finely spun, have been interwoven with the stories of the settlers. Stories, tales and legends that have flourished in its peaceful forests, in the high mountains, in the inhospitable jungles, in the immeasurable deserts, in the unique fauna, in the amazing flora and in its paradisiac coasts.

Our country is a real paradise where you can find a wide variety of animals and native vegetation, such as kangaroo, koala or platypus. Despite having a large part of the desert territory, this country provides tourists with several natural parks and more than 700 lakes. And of course, it is essential to visit the Great Barrier Reef, the largest in the world!

Origin and characteristics of the dances of Greece and its cultural contribution

The ancient Greek civilization was the greatest of its time and influenced the entire Western world, either to manifest its sorrows for the frustrations of everyday life, or its joy for good harvests and marriages or births, Greeks almost always dance or dance embraced or holding hands, as if to teach us that man will always better face the vicissitudes of life when he is united to other men and women, to his community, to his nation. The union is strength, the saying goes, and with great sensitivity the Greek people plastically expressed it in the artistic expression that reflects the way in which their people have known the world and assumed their lives.

Dancing is as important to Greeks today as it was to antiquity. In fact, many of today’s dances have been transmitted from one generation to the next with few changes. Children learn Greek dances from an early age and continue throughout their lives at parties and celebrations of all kinds of dance.

Here at Nestoras College students learn about Greek traditions at no extra cost for their parents. Today we will learn more about Greek dances.

Expressive narration

A feature that has remained constant over the years and that can be said of all Greek dances is that they are dramatic expressions of human feelings. Greek dances celebrate the times of everyday life. Express religious feelings celebrate joy at weddings and were once thought to cure diseases or guarantee fertility. Nowadays, dances are often exhibited at festivals, fairs and demonstrations, but they are still full of the expressive narration that was taught to the dancers as the dances were transmitted to them.

Variety of rhythms

Another characteristic of Greek dance is the great variety of rhythm that it uses, sometimes even within the dance itself. A well-known example of this is the Zorba dance, which starts slowly and goes faster and faster and was popularised in the movie “Zorba the Greek.” The two main types of Greek dance are the jumping / jumping and shuffle / dragging dances. Ancient dances were more often shuffle / dragging type, and women’s dances today are more likely to use this style. Men’s dances most often use the Jump / Jump style, exemplified in the individual acrobatic dance, Tsamiko.

Circle dances

Most Greek dances are circle dances and usually danced by men or women in a circle, but not so much. Sometimes the circle of women can be surrounded by a circle of men. The dancers always dance to the left in circle dances. Often the circle has a leader, usually the oldest or best dancer, who performs the most complicated steps. Dancers of hands or touch the shoulders in circle dances. If men and women dance together, they can hold handkerchiefs or have a child among them.

Line dances

Some Greek dances are performed as line dances. The leader of the line is usually the most experienced dancer. The line can be arranged from the oldest man to the youngest and the oldest woman to the youngest. In some line dances, such as the Laziko, men and women dance some different steps. “Sweet Girl” is a dance imported from Armenia where the line is formed as an open circle. Dancers link the little fingers and hold the arms at shoulder height. The dance is slow and expressive, with repetitive steps that facilitate the dance.

What are the typical dances from Greece?

The Greek dances are basically divided into village dances and city dances, but most of these dances come from variations of the dances of the villages. These are divided into dances of the mainland Greece and dances of the islands. This division continues when we rely on the type of dance, and not in its region, which is folk dances and popular dances. Some of the Greek dances are the following:

Baidoushka (μπαϊντούσκα): Before the liberation of Northern Greece and Southern Bulgaria from Turkish control, dances passed between Greeks and Bulgarians very often. Baidoushka spread through Bulgaria not only to Greece Macedonia and Thrace, but also as far north as Romania. In Bulgaria, “Baisoushka” describes a kind of dance, similar to the “pidisto” or the “syrtos” of Greece. The rhythm is always 5/16. The Greek Baidoushkas are usually 5/16 but sometimes 6/8, 3/8 or 2/4. They have a series of small steps in place or to the left, followed by small jumps to the right. The meaning of the name is uncertain, but probably comes from the Bulgarian word meaning “to take”.

Ballos (μπάλλος): The Italians occupied the Greek island Ballos and performed a similar dance of their own, but the original name comes from the Greek verb “ballizo” (βαλλίζω) which means “to dance alone” in Ancient Greek (as opposed to “jorio” (χορεύω), dance in group). The basic step is similar to the island Syrto, except that it is done in pairs and not in a circle. Usually the island Syrto is danced and then the circle is disarmed forming pairs and starting the Ballos without stopping. You should dance in 2/4 time (divided into long, short, short) or 8/8 (divided into long, long, short) There are 2 basic styles. The Sousta of Crete is related but it is different. The ballos is known to all the Greek islands including Cyprus, and before the catastrophe of 1922 it was popular in Constantinople in Asia Minor Occidental.

Sousta of the Dodecanese (σούστα δωδεκανήσου): A family of dances in the Dodecanese islands (not related to the Soustes of Crete and Macedonia). The name means “spring”, describing the steps in skips. The rhythm is in 2/4 (1-2, 1-2). Each island has its own version and its own songs, with Rhodes and Carpathians as the best known. The Greek villas that remain in southern Italy make a version of this dance, perhaps because the Dodecanese was in Italian power until 1947.

Hasapiko (χασάπικο): This was the dance of the association of Butchers of Constantinople during the Byzantine period, and then it was known as Makelarikos (μακελλάρικος) (butcher). The dance remained popular in Constantinople, Asia Minor Occ. And some islands for centuries until 1922, when it was absorbed by Rembetika music and became panelenic. In modern times, dance became popular with sailors and it was also called “Naftiko” (ναυτικό) in ports. Thanks to the movie “Zorba el Griego”, it became the most known Greek dance in the world. There are many variations and never 2 groups of dancers perform the same variations. The dance is performed with the hands on the shoulders of the partners and the dancers improvise the order of the variations, communicating with slaps on the shoulders.

Here at Nestoras College students learn about Greek traditions at no extra cost for their parents. This includes Greek dances.

Braces: false myths and curiosities about this orthodontic method

You are about to start an orthodontic treatment and there are many tips that you have heard, the anecdotes that you have been told and the blogs that you have read through the web to check your initial doubts.

However, in many cases these stories are contradictory and have not served to answer your questions.

In this article we will dismantle those false myths in relation to this method of orthodontics and we will tell you what is true about the hoaxes that circulate through the network.

Here at Parkwood Green Dental we are happy to help you with any issue you may have related to dental health. Contact us today and let us help you with your problem or just to have one of our check-ups.

Do the braces hurt?

This is the most frequent doubt and, probably, the most widespread myth. If you are going to start an orthodontic treatment, you can rest assured: the braces do not hurt.

The day you go to the consultation to place the same you will not suffer any kind of discomfort. However, it is true that, after placement or after review appointments, it is common to feel some pressure in the mouth.

It is to this sensation that patients refer to as pain caused by orthodontics, and it remits after 2 to 3 days.

In addition, there is another annoyance that you must take into account. Due to the rubbing of the brackets with the cheeks -in case they are metallic or sapphire- or with the tongue -more frequent in cases of orthodontics with lingual brackets-, it is common for patients to notice the presence of small wounds or wounds.

To do this, orthodontists recommend the use of special orthodontic wax, which will avoid rubbing the bracket with the small fissure and facilitate its healing.

Will the braces affect my image during treatment?

The concern for an aesthetic smile has enjoyed a great boom in recent years. As a result of this interest in the adult population in orthodontic treatments, new more aesthetic methods have emerged than traditional metal brackets for the most demanding adults.

Among them, it is worth noting the existence of sapphire and lingual brackets.

The first ones are made with sapphire microcrystals. It is a transparent and translucent material of great strength that does not stain or stain with the passage of time, so it retains its aesthetic qualities throughout the treatment.

On the contrary, our orthodontists recommend lingual braces to those patients who are most concerned about their image.

They are placed on the inside of the teeth. For this reason, they are completely imperceptible to the naked eye and nobody will notice that you are dealing with an orthodontic treatment.

Do brackets make speaking difficult?

Approaching an orthodontic treatment involves the presence of a foreign object in our mouth. For this reason, at the beginning it is true that you acknowledge certain difficulties to speak properly.

This is because every orthodontic procedure requires a period of adaptation during which the patient is accustomed to chewing, biting and pronouncing properly.

This is longer if you opt for the lingual brackets -about 2 to 3 weeks-, so the discomfort in speaking will be more pronounced with them at the beginning.

Will I lose weight if I wear braces?

You should know that after placing the brackets or after going for an orthodontic check-up, you may notice some discomfort when biting and crushing the food that, to a certain extent, may affect your diet.

Do not be alarmed: they disappear after a few days and, meanwhile, you can resort to the intake of analgesics – always after consulting your trusted specialist – to reduce their incidence.

Also, if this is your case, your orthodontist will recommend you follow a soft diet during the first days.

In the same way, there are certain foods that you should avoid as much as possible throughout the treatment – especially those that are very hard or sticky.

What you can eat if you wear orthodontics?

Foods that you should avoid with brackets

Unconsciously, you may substitute foods that are not too healthy – candies, nuts – because of the good habit of resorting to better ones for your health – fruit cut to snack between meals, for example.

An orthodontic treatment with brackets takes a long time

The duration of an orthodontic treatment depends on the occlusion problems that the patient initially presents. In an estimated way, we can orthodontic procedure usually extend between 18 and 24 months.

While it is true that, before starting orthodontics, it seems a procedure that lasts a long time, you should bear in mind that its results last for life – provided that you respect the retention phase properly – and that, in addition, has numerous benefits for your oral health and your general condition.

To put a few examples, you should be aware that well-aligned teeth not only assume a radiant smile, but also eliminate the difficulties at the time of biting and chewing and prevent cervical pain and headaches.

For this reason, the duration of the treatment is short if we compare it with the aesthetic and functional improvements that you will notice at the end of your orthodontics.

Will braces damage my teeth?

This is one of the most widespread myths. However, you can be calm: it is completely false.

Fixed orthodontic methods -such as braces- make oral hygiene difficult but, following rigorous oral cleaning routines, dental pieces do not have to be damaged.

If this is the case, lingual braces are the safest in this regard: when placed on the inside of the teeth, the difficulty in accessing hygiene would entail some stain on the enamel, it would be completely imperceptible when removing the equipment

In the same way, in the orthodontic reviews the specialist will review both the correct achievement of the treatment and the good condition of your teeth and gums. Thanks to them, your mouth will remain completely healthy and free of cavities throughout the procedure.

Healthy and beautiful feet 365 days of the year? 9 tips to get it

The importance of foot care lies in the effort you have to make daily, supporting the total body weight and allowing the mobility of the body. In spite of all that sacrifice, they are usually the forgotten ones and we do not give them the care they really need and deserve.

The use of inappropriate footwear, the bad drying of the feet when leaving the shower and the scarce hydration that is provided makes our feet present problems that, with the necessary attentions, they would not have.

The feet are one of the most important parts of the body, and at the same time one of the most forgotten. Just as we go to the eye doctor to graduate our eyesight, we must also visit the podiatrist to maintain good foot and foot health.

Did you know that one person a year gives, on average, 3 million steps, about 10,000 each day?

In addition to supporting our weight in each step, with this data we realize its importance in the day to day, but … do you take care of the feet correctly?

As we only have two feet, and are for life, in this article we tell you the 9 keys to have them healthy and taken care of 365 days a year.

Here at Happy Feet Pedorthics we can help you find the best option for you, we’ll assist you in the selection of shoes for your daily routine. Today we will help you find proper shoes for each member of the family.

9 TIPS to keep your feet healthy and beautiful all year

  1. Hydrate the skin of your feet every night with specific creams. In a hydrated skin, which is much more elastic, it is difficult to appear cracks or peeling, minimizing the chances of infection by microorganisms. Take this moment to massage your feet, relaxing your muscles before sleeping. Discards the use of callicides to correct corns or calluses, as they can cause skin burns.
  2. Wash your feet daily and dry them well, especially between your fingers. This small gesture will help you to avoid infections caused by fungi.
  3. Cut your nails straight and lick them, in this way you will avoid to a great extent that the painful incarnated nails appear. Also, try not to abuse your day to day nail polish, as they do not let you breathe properly.
  4. Walk barefoot at home. Practicing this healthy habit a few minutes each day has advantages such as releasing stress, stimulating the muscles of the feet and improving blood circulation, among others.
  5. Bet on socks made of natural materials such as cotton. The synthetic fibers do not allow a correct transpiration of the foot, thus favouring sweating. If your feet sweat a lot, change the socks more than once a day.
  6. Choose the right shoes. How? They must be flexible and suitable for the time of year, with a semi-rigid buttress on the heel and fastened to the ankle, in addition to being made of breathable materials. Oh! Forget about flat soles and narrow ends. Narrow lasts or sharp points can cause the appearance of bunions.

If you practice sports or any activity, look for the right shoes for your sports discipline, taking into account your size, weight, playing surface and technique.

In the case of high-heeled shoes, the height should not exceed 3-4 centimetres. The foot of an adult supports the weight of the whole body by distributing it between the front part and the heel, and it is precisely the heel that supports the main load. The higher the heel height the more weight will go to the front. Metatarsalgia and plantar fasciitis are some of the possible problems associated with the use of heels.

When you go to buy shoes, it is better that it be in the afternoon, since the feet are more dilated. Also, do not forget your personalized templates at home to make sure you choose the right number. Remember that the shoe has to adapt to the template and not the other way around.

  1. Enjoy your favorite sport or walk at least half an hour a day. The foot has a very important function in our circulatory system. The blood easily reaches our feet as it “goes down” and is aided by gravity. For this blood to return to the heart, it is necessary to activate a series of venous return pumps. The first of these “venous return pumps” is located on the bottom of our feet (called the venous sole of Lejars). For all this, practicing sports or walking for at least half an hour a day will help us in our overall health.
  2. Protect your feet in public spaces. Walking barefoot in common areas is a mistake that causes infections in a very easy way. The infection of fungi, papillomas and any infection is very fast, with simple contact. When you are in sports facilities such as gyms, changing rooms or swimming pools it is very important to wear flip flops. It is a simple gesture that can avoid many problems.
  3. Do you step correctly? Go to a podiatric clinic, at least once a year, and discover if you have a correct footprint or if you need exercises or a treatment with personalized templates, all through a biomechanical study of the footprint. Do not wait to have pain or discomfort in your feet, as a bad step can cause back, knee or ankle problems. Detecting pathologies on time (especially in childhood stages), longer problems are avoided in the long term.

Here at Happy Feet Pedorthics we’ll assist you in the selection of shoes for your daily routine. First of all, we will measure your feet in order to make your new shoes fir perfectly, then we will recommend the best and most comfortable design for you, ask for aesthetic preferences and present a brief view at what we will your new shoes look like.

Temperature Control in an Aquarium

Fish are “cold blooded” animals and maintain the temperature of their body equal to that of the environment. For this reason, it is extremely important to keep the temperature constant. Sudden changes can cause stress and lead to illness. So, it is recommended to check the water temperature daily. There is a wide variety of thermometers to choose from.

This item constantly displays the temperature of the aquarium in either Celsius or Fahrenheit and has an adjustable alarm for low or high temperature that is activated by sound and lights when it leaves the programmed temperature range.

Tropical fish originate in places of warm and temperate climates, so they require a constant water temperature between 24 to 27 ° C (75 to 80 ° F). This makes the heater or thermostat as important as the filter in your aquarium. The general rule is to choose a heater or combination of heaters that provides 3 to 5 watts per 3.8 lt (gallon U.S.) of aquarium water. If the aquarium is located in a colder area it is highly recommended that the minimum be 5 watts per 3.8 lt.

Placing the thermostat in an area where there is plenty of water movement will help distribute the heat more evenly. A mistaken belief is that the heater is disconnected when there is warmer weather, this should NEVER be done. The heater provides the stability of the temperature, by not allowing the temperature of the aquarium to fall below the pre-set value and is controlled by thermostat.

Remember that if you are looking for an online shop where you can buy anything you need for your aquarium from the comfort of your house, here at Guppy’s Aquarium Products you will find them.

Heaters

There are three basic types of heaters, clamp, submersible and electronic. Caliper heaters like Elite Radiant models represent an economical option to provide stable temperatures and are designed to be attached to the aquarium frame. It is important when placing them to respect the indicated water line. This will ensure the correct operation of the thermostat. Submersible heaters like the Elite and Aqua Clear offer greater flexibility in terms of use and are available in small, easy-to-hide diameters.

Submersible heaters Elite

The strong construction and quality features make the submersible heater Elite an attractive choice, possessing the following characteristics:

  • Temperature adjustment dial, easy to adjust and adjust.
  • Easy-to-read temperature scales
  • Ceramic heating core for uniform and efficient heat distribution.
  • Heater tube made of high impact safety glass.
  • It can be used in freshwater or saltwater aquariums.

Aqua Clear submersible heater

These heaters offer numerous features that define them as the best conventional heater. The following features are present in Aqua Clear submersible heaters:

  • Temperature dial easy to adjust.
  • Thermostat and frame calibrated by computer for reliable and accurate operation.
  • Ceramic heating core for uniform and efficient heat distribution.
  • Heater tube made of thin line borosilicate silicate for impact resistance combined with easy to disguise.
  • Heater bracket clamp supplied with long lasting suction cups.
  • Exclusive sealing system to prevent moisture from entering the heater.
  • It can be used in freshwater or saltwater aquariums.

Some electronic heaters employ a technologically advanced method for temperature control and eliminates the mechanical technologies found in conventional heaters.

Calibrated control for exact temperature setting

Electronic operational system that has no mechanical components that can wear out that become potentially inaccurate with use. Advanced electronic circuits that respond quickly, regulate the flow and are programmed to shut off when the sensor reads 65.5 ° C (150 ° F). The boron silicate tube is designed to withstand temperatures greater than 93 ° C (200 ° F).

The patented thermal sensor provides accurate water temperature data for precise heating. The thermal sensor continuously reads the water temperature through the glass of the heater tube. The conventional bi-metallic heaters use the air temperature inside the tube, resulting in less operational reactivity.

Fast Heat technology is a term used to express that heaters will continuously heat the aquarium water until the desired temperature has been reached. The conventional bi-metallic heaters switch off and on constantly and are not reactive to temperature changes.

How to regulate and maintain the temperature of the aquarium

Maintaining a suitable temperature in the aquarium is of vital importance for its inhabitants, both plants and animals. The vast majority of animals and plants that we keep at home in our aquariums are tropical, which means they come from places with warm waters. For this reason, we must regulate and maintain the temperature of the aquarium water, to prevent our animals and plants from getting sick or dying.

Luckily nowadays it is quite easy to regulate the temperature of the water and to maintain it. We just need a water heater and a thermometer to control the temperature.

We must take into account a number of aspects to be able to have the right temperature:

We must inform ourselves about the species that we harbor in our aquarium, to know what temperature they need. Normally tropical freshwater fish need a temperature between 24 ºC and 28 ºC. For its part, tropical saltwater fish need a temperature between 23 ºC and 27 ºC.

The next step is to install the heater in the aquarium, depending on the size of our urn we will need a more or less powerful one, and a thermometer to measure at what temperature the water is. Observe the temperature of the water in your aquarium and adjust the heater to raise it to the point you need.

During the next 24 hours you should watch the temperature in case there are very abrupt temperature changes, since a change in temperature can be fatal for our fish.

If the temperature drops during the night, the heater increases slightly, making sure it is not too hot.

If the aquarium gets very hot, especially in summer, try to keep the room cool, open the lid, or ventilate the surface of the water with a fan. Only the heater must be disconnected in extreme cases.

You should always place the aquarium where it does not directly light. The water can get too hot and can be fatal for our fish, and algae would be generated, creating another problem.

Following these tips, we will maintain the temperature of our aquarium as our fish need so that they have 100% health.

Remember that Guppy’s Aquarium Products is the top online shop where you can buy anything you need for your aquarium from the comfort of your house.

The ultimate strategy to protect your money at poker tables

Poker is a game in which it is necessary to collect information since the more data you have from the rivals and the situation, the better results you will get and, therefore, the more money you will get. This is clear, although it is common to see doubts among beginner players when it comes to knowing what they should be watching and how to do it.

Paying attention in poker means much more than simply remembering past hands. From the moment you sit at the table you should observe everything that happens around you.

From the way in which the player has made the buy-in to the way of playing the different hands, going through his way of dressing, you need to store all the possible information at all times doing this as a process that will help you to take good decisions that will help you increase your budget.

The way to pay attention to beginners focuses mainly (and almost only) on analysing and extracting attention only from the hands in which they are involved. You need to be really attentive to each of the hands that are disputed, whether you are in them or not.

If you are looking for a great casino in Melbourne to have some fun and forget about problems, you can visit Poker Times!

Classify your opponents

Pay attention to the percentage of times each player bets before the flop and from which positions he usually plays. When another player sees his bet, how many times does he make a continuation bet after the flop?, are they able to bet (even bluffing) on the three streets or abandon their aggressiveness with bets after a single street?

Does the player tend to perform semi-bluffs with their projects or do they prefer to play passively, betting and re-raising bets only when they have a hand made?

Since you sit at the table you must begin to classify your opponents as aggressive or passive, as well as loose or tight.

There is a saying known in poker that says that if you have not been able to find the target in the first ten minutes, you are the target. You must discover the weak players and pay attention to know what the best way is to take advantage of them.

Bankroll for poker

Having an exclusive budget or bankroll to play poker is really important, something that many of the players forget with negative consequences for them. Having this money independent from other matters will help you to know the exact data of your gains or losses, in addition to reducing your stress in case of losing sessions.

If you play online poker and do not want to have to deposit money again, follow our advice and take advantage of them to never enter bankruptcy. Determine how many buy-ins you should have in your budget regarding the entry cost to the gaming table in the cash games, as well as the number of tickets available for a tournament, to survive without running out of luck in a run of bad luck.

Stop bluffing without control

Beginning players think that the way to win in poker is cheating the opponent, erring by throwing bluffs every time they have to do it.

Keep in mind never failing in poker is about the great misunderstanding that many of the beginning players have, who believe that poker consists of bluffing and trying to fool the opponent whenever possible. The truth is that winning in poker depends much more on having good knowledge and fundamentals of poker than of bluffing and aggression to the blind.

The chances of you remembering more than one occasion when a bluff has slipped out of your hands and before you knew it you had all your stack in the middle with a derisory hand are very high, so you probably know about What are we talking about.

A lot of your benefits will really come from the fact that other players will make this kind of mistake, so until your game strategy improves and your experience grows enough to know how to perform a complicated bluff, save money and focus only on how to get the most benefit when you have a great hand.

When it comes to talking about bluffs, it is better to make a multitude of small lanterns that have a high probability of succeeding instead of playing a large part of your stack (or all) in a hand in which you basically cross your fingers in the hope that the rival throws his cards.

But the most important thing you will learn is how to avoid throwing away much of your money with hands that have very little value.

Write down your results

Take notes and analyse every day the possible losses and gains, as well as investment made to achieve the final result, number of hands played, open tables and a long etcetera, is really important and we would say that practically indispensable if you want to be a long winning player term.

For this reason, we have decided to include in our series of basic tips to avoid losing this topic in poker and we will try to teach you the easiest way to start recording your results daily and how to use this information to make better decisions about when, where and how to play.

At a minimum you should always know the money you have invested in the poker tables and how much you have recovered from it or the net profits, without forgetting to make a history of results in longer terms: week, month, year and, finally, all the gains or losses since you started playing.

After knowing that this is really important and after taking into account that you know the money invested and the results (economically speaking) daily, it is also convenient that you keep in mind things like when and where you are playing, the type of players with whom you have faced and other aspects that at first may seem irrelevant.

Looking more closely at all the statistics generated you should analyse these and focus on your strengths (how you usually earn the money), in addition to avoiding those situations that make your money go to for other hands.

How to fix a car’s water pump?

Gasoline engines in cars use a mixture of antifreeze and water that is distributed through a radiator by a water pump to lower the temperature of the engine’s operation. The water pump can corrode or wear out and needs to be replaced when it fails. The bearings of the water pump are designed to generate a leak when they fail and cannot be easily repaired. However, an average home mechanic can replace a water pump in most cars in almost an hour.

Remember that we can help you keep your car in perfect conditions here at JB Prestige automotive service you will find a team of qualified professionals for maintenance.

Replacing an automobile water pump

  1. Drain the system antifreeze by loosening the radiator drain plug or decoupling the lower coolant hose. Remove the radiator cap to release the negative pressure and allow the antifreeze fluid to drain until the system is empty.
  2. Remove the fan belts or serpentine belt that operates the water pump by pressing firmly on the tension pulley and then pulling out the belt or loosening the accessory that gives tension to the pump belt.
  3. Unscrew the water pump pulley by turning the heads counter-clockwise. Normally, the pump is held with two to four bolts in the motor, but the pulley is too large for you to reach the pump bolts. In these cases, you must disassemble the pulley to allow access to them. The water pump pulley is a design divided in half and can be set aside once it is disconnected.
  4. Unscrew and remove the old water pump by turning the bolts counter-clockwise. The pump is pulled straight out, and it can splash trapped antifreeze when you’re taking it out. There is a gasket on the inside edge of the pump, and there must be a new one included with the new pump. Clean the area around the water channel (where the pump has been mounted) and scrape any material from the old gasket.
  5. Place the new gasket and any adhesive that is included in the new water pump. If the edge of the pump mouth has a certain shape, then the gasket can only be inserted in a certain way. Many pumps simply have a circular opening. Putting this gasket correctly is fundamental for the life of the new pump.
  6. Install the new pump by bolting it to the motor and then connecting the old pulley. Replace the belt and apply tension in the same way that you released the tension of the pulley or tighten the fitting that applies pressure to the pump.
  7. Squeeze the drain plug on the radiator and reconnect all disconnected hoses.
  8. Refill the system by filling the radiator with antifreeze, then turn on the vehicle and continue pouring the coolant until it is no longer needed. Cover the radiator and fill the tank to the proper level.

Tips

Use a mixture of 60% antifreeze and 40% water during the first months after changing the water pump. The raw metal needs the additional protection of the chemicals in the antifreeze.

How to know if you should replace your car’s water pump

The water pump is one of the most important parts of your car. It is the piece that pumps water and antifreeze continuously to the engine of your vehicle so that it does not overheat. A leak or defective bearings can cause great damage to the engine. As the owner of a car, you should be aware of faults that require repairs or replacement. Water or antifreeze pools under your vehicle or high temperature readings may be signs that your water pump should be replaced.

Steps

  1. Leave your car parked at night on a clean concrete floor. If it is not possible to find a clean space, place a piece of clear cardboard directly under the engine.
  2. Examine the cardboard the next morning. If it seems to be wet, you have a leak somewhere, probably at the water pump or at the board. If you notice a green liquid in the cardboard, it is the antifreeze. This means that you definitely have a leak of antifreeze somewhere.
  3. Check the water pump pulley. Locate the round part of your water pump that is surrounded by the band. Try pushing the pulley back and forth. If it seems to be loose, it may be time to replace it because the bearing is no longer useful.
  4. Listen to your car. Start the engine with the hood open. If you hear a serious screech, it can be an indicator that your bearing is no longer useful. Normally it is very clear when it is no longer useful.
  5. Look for leaks around the water pump and gaskets. If you see water droplets or a small stream, there is a leak.
  6. See if the thermostat’s warning light comes on. If your car is not getting enough antifreeze due to a leak or a faulty water pump, the engine temperature will increase, turning on the warning light.
  7. See if the antifreeze level light is shining. This may be an indicator that the antifreeze reservoir is leaking or that the water pump is not working properly. Another alternative is that there is a leak in the cooling system.
  8. Pay attention to the air conditioning of your car. If the air conditioner is not working properly, the water pump is not doing its job well.

Some water pumps have fan blades made of plastic, which move the coolant, some being corrosive once the additives wear out (you’re supposed to change the coolant every 3 to 7 years to prevent the engine from getting damaged once that the additives wear out). The fan blades can dissolve, leaving the coolant circulating causing the car to overheat. To test this, perform a cold start with the radiator uncovered. You should see that the liquid moves around him. If it does not, there is a good chance that the inner blades of the water drool have corroded and only a small amount remains.

The secrets of the air conditioning of your car

The current air conditioning systems and air conditioners do not require large maintenance. However, it is advisable to visit the agency or a specialised workshop at the beginning of each season of the year (as a preventive service).

Any automotive air conditioning system employs 4 basic parts; a mechanical compressor driven by the vehicle engine; an expansion valve which is a restriction to where the compressor pumps; and 2 heat exchangers; the evaporator and the condenser. In addition, the refrigerant flowing through the system is required.

The compressor uses engine power to compress and circulate the refrigerant gas through the system. The refrigerant passes through the condenser (located in front of the radiator) on its way from the compressor outlet to the expansion valve. The refrigerant passes from the expansion valve to the evaporator (located inside the car) and, after passing through the evaporator pipe, is returned to the compressor.

When the compressor goes into operation, it draws refrigerant from the evaporator pipe and pushes it towards the condenser pipe, decreasing the evaporator pressure and increasing the condenser pressure. When the proper operating pressures are established, the expansion valve opens, allowing the refrigerant to return to the evaporator at the same speed that the compressor is removing it. Under these conditions, the pressure at each point of the system reaches a constant level, but the condenser pressure will be much higher than the evaporator pressure.

The pressure in the evaporator is low enough that the boiling point of the refrigerant is quite lower than the interior temperature of the vehicle, therefore, the liquid evaporates, removes heat from the inside and leaves the evaporator as gas. The heat effect produced by passing the refrigerant through the compressor prevents the gas from liquefying and causes it to be discharged from the compressor at very high temperatures. This hot gas passes to the condenser. The pressure on this side of the system is high enough so that the boiling point of the coolant is well above the outside temperature. The gas will cool until it reaches its boiling point and will condense as the heat is absorbed by the outside air. The liquid refrigerant is forced back through the expansion valve by the pressure of the condenser.

The air conditioning system is one of the greatest technical achievements achieved for the sake of comfort on board a vehicle. The objective of the system is to reach a temperature of around 21 / 25º C in a fast and maintained way, with an operation similar to that of a refrigerator. The air conditioning system what it does is extract the heat from the interior and expel it to the outside.

The air conditioning system is supported by a cooling fluid that in modern cars is R-134A (tetrafluoroethane), which is friendly to the environment. The one used until a few years ago and called Freon 12, or simply R12, was found to damage the ozone layer and also, in the presence of humidity, became harmful to human health.

The secrets of air conditioning

On several occasions we have observed water dripping under the vehicle when the air conditioning system is working. This is completely normal, due to the condensation of water on the outside of the pipes (the evaporator draws water from the humidity of the air by dehumidifying it).

Important tips for the best use of air conditioning

  • Open the windows when starting the car, to remove the hot air and then close them to turn on the air conditioning
  • Keep the car closed while the air conditioner is running
  • Do not turn on the air conditioner, if it is not necessary to lower the temperature too much; a better option is to turn on the fan
  • Carry out general cleaning of the equipment, remove dust and mould, and paint it to avoid oxidation
  • Check that all gaskets (doors) and windows of the car are not broken or cracked
  • Remove the garbage that is in the base of the windshield, since it obstructs the entrance of the outside air
  • Do not obstruct the outputs of the air conditioning of the dashboard, (exit to the windshield and frontal exits) nor the exit towards the floor, for a better comfort of the passengers. Some cars have an exit to the rear seats
  • The air outlet temperature is between 10 and 15 ° C, so the grilles should always be oriented so that the air diffuses throughout the car, and not directly to the occupants
  • Do not overcook, it must be taken into account that for each degree required to air conditioning below 25 ° C, you will be consuming approximately 8% more energy
  • You must use your air conditioner at least once a week (even in the winter) for at least 2 minutes, the purpose of which is to circulate the oil in the compressor to always keep the equipment lubricated, otherwise this ignition occurs, the compressor fails, and the equipment will not work.

The importance of air conditioning maintenance

The objective of maintaining the air conditioning equipment, is to maintain it in optimal conditions and thus minimize more expensive failures for the user.

Normally, preventive or routine maintenance consists of:

  1. Evaporator cleaning (usually aluminium and expensive part)
  2. Change of the filter drier (dehydrating bottle that tries to collect or absorb the internal humidity of the liquid refrigerant product)
  3. Replacement of the expansion valve (controls the flow of refrigerant to the evaporator)
  4. Change of seals (rubber rings)
  5. Make a vacuum to the system that should last at least 40 minutes
  6. Add oil to the compressor
  7. Finally load it with its respective refrigerant which can be R-12 (CFC) or R-134 (HFC). A system that needs 10% of refrigerant, will cost 20% more in its operation

Without regular maintenance, the air conditioner loses approximately 5% of its original efficiency for each year of operation, if it is given adequate maintenance it will be possible to maintain 95% of the original efficiency.

Keeping the car in good condition will help you travel with greater safety in addition to allowing you to drive the car for much longer and someday sell it. Remember to contact the experts, JB Euro Auto Service to provide you with top maintenance services and keep your car running at full potential.
