THE MOST REMOTE, MOST PRISTINE AND
MOST BEAUTIFUL LOCATION IN THE WORLD,
THAT’S WHERE WE GROW OUR PEARLS.

Abrolhos Islands, 70km off the coast of Geraldton, Western Australia is home to our pearl farm and the place Pia Boschetti, Founder of Latitude, calls home.

While she appears to move through life effortlessly, there is a proud determination behind every decision she makes and while many young women only dream of wearing pearls, Pia is happy farming them. Born into a lobster-fishing family, Pia’s affinity with the Abrolhos Islands has been life-long, spending much of her childhood living on the islands. With five months of the year living in these remote waters and over 16 years working in the pearling industry, Pia is consider a pioneer of the pearling industry at the Abrolhos Islands.

Pia discovered she had a passion for creating innovative jewellery designs for her pearls, and a mission for all her jewellery designs to have its story told. Dedicated to honouring the unique beauty of the Islands, sea and land, we now feature our own pearls, a variety of Australian gemstones and the exquisite Argyle Pink Diamonds in our creations.

Each of our pearls takes five years to grow. Three years to grow the oyster then the pearl is harvested two years after seeding and continuous nurturing. Once the pearl is harvested the oyster can only be reseeded up to three times. Currently all the stock shell are bred in a hatchery to ensure pearling at the Abrolhos Islands continues to be a sustainable industry for our future.

Acknowledging their creator, each piece of jewellery is unique in design and hand-crafted to embody our story and yours. Pia believes in finding power in the challenge and beauty in the unknown. Playful and free-spirited, she masks an inner strength that drives her and a confidence in the freedom to create, ‘The girl that grows the Pearl’, Pia Boschetti.

At Latitude we nurture a deeper connection with the ocean and particularly the home of our pearls, the Abrolhos Islands, Western Australia. Every year for over a decade, pioneered by Pia Boschetti, we dedicated ourselves to giving back. ‘Clean Up Australia Day’ launches Latitude Jewellers ‘Flotsam and Jetsam’, an purpose driven event to clean up, recycle and create.
