How viruses affect computers from Melbourne.
Computer viruses are a very common problem with personal computing in today’s day and age.
Many may ask why Windows OS computers get viruses so easily.
Well, the answer is simple, it’s because a virus is made to infect computer easily.
First I’d like to start by describing what a computer virus is. A computer virus is a program made to run on a computer and to possibly trick the user into thinking he/she is running something else.
There are many types of computer viruses, in my 14 years of experience some more common forms of computer viruses are:
Trojans: A Trojan virus is a program that looks like something else, usually in an executable file, after running this virus it usually spreads to many different folders.
Trojan viruses are usually the most common forms of viruses.
Malware: Malware viruses are usually add-ons installed with an application. They typically used to track user information, i.e., keystrokes, website browsing history etc.
Spyware are viruses that don’t necessarily affect computers performance though used to spy on a user’s actions over a prolonged period.
There are so many different antivirus programs, which one is really the most effective to protect your computer from viruses, well the truth is, the best protection from viruses is people.
If you educate yourself and understand how viruses are made to infect your computer, the methods the viruses use, and what to stay away from you will have a less of a chance getting your computer infected.
Sometimes, prevention is better than a cure, however sometimes we understand that as people, we all may get fooled in a point or another. Generally the best antivirus programs are typically the least popular.
I.E if I’m going to create a virus, I guess my aim would be to infect as many people as possible, I would probably target Windows OS over apple OS, because windows is far way more common. Secondly, I would do some research in determining the most commonly used antivirus products.
From my experience Norton Antivirus is by far the most commonly used antivirus program, so my virus would attempt to disable or bypass Norton Antivirus first.
I would recommend something a little less common, though at the same time would like to go with a brand that has years’ experience – a trust worthy brand.
Keeping this in mind, Trend Micro Internet Security seems pretty consistent over the last 5 years, it is pretty easy to setup and install effectively and seems to do a pretty decent job.
Windows 7 has helped to minimize the spreading of viruses on personal computers dramatically.
They achieved this by having two kernels running, this means that with windows 7, you will never get a virus, unless you physically click or download it.
