This will be a year to experiment with prints and patterns. Let’s see an increase in eclectic interiors that show a clear willingness to make bold statements with prints and texture. Next you’ll see modern upholstery fabrics, with prints that are trend.

In interior decoration 2019, we will move away from using only colour and a single pattern, but we will see the use of mixtures and contrast of paisleys, geometric figures, florals and stripes, all of them incorporated in virtue of achieving a large space visual impact, full of textures, colours and figures that will monopolise the attention.

Here at Brisbane Upholstery we can help you make your furniture look great according to the current trends.

Chevrons

This is the name given to the pattern of zigzag stripes that are drawn by the figure we see in the carpet of the lower image. Far from being a new trend, it has simply taken a lot of force in recent years.

Tribal patterns

The intricate designs of the tribal prints have an ethnic origin that covers much of the globe, because despite being all very similar, each was created by ancient civilizations from almost all continents. They will be used even combined with each other, as in the patchwork bedspread that we see below.

Botanical prints and large flowers

And we say botanists, because they will include more to the plants themselves, and not only to the flowers, as it had happened in the past seasons. They are ideal for wallpaper, bedding, cushions and many other accessories.

Check pattern

The checkered prints are one of the classics that never go out of fashion, and this year, they will also be used, a retro or vintage fashion that can be used in many styles of decoration. If you like Scottish paintings, there are some nice ways to add them to the decoration.

Animal Print

Far from promoting the use of furs, just the animal print tries to transform its image bet on synthetic fabrics that use the same designs, but that do not cost the life to any type of animal.

This is what is called this pattern, ideal for all rooms. Originally from European medieval culture, it has its roots more deeply rooted in Ireland. It is inspired by the 4 leaf clovers; in Europe it was believed that these clovers gave good luck.

Greek print

If you want something with a navy inclination, or more coastal airs, then this Greek print in intense blue and white, will be the best option to decorate your home. The curtains, cushions, bathroom curtain and other accessories may be the ideal ones to apply it.

Stripes

Another classic that never dies, the stripes can also be used in all kinds of decoration.

Aubusson

The Aubusson style refers to special embroideries and tapestries that were made by the Aubusson factory in France in the French Renaissance period, taking great notoriety in the world of decoration and that nowadays, they are finding a space in homes more refined

The difference with modern cushions or others that are used today is clear. Intricate designs are usually stamped on the cushions that follow this trend, being accompanied by handmade embroideries with Victorian designs, decorated with borders and tassels of the most varied textures.

It is a style that in itself was always accompanied by Victorian or eclectic styles, although nowadays it is being combined with modern, minimalist and industrial trends, such as steampunk, as a way to achieve Shabby Chic combinations.

Between the models that we are seeing, the mosaic, floral, plants, birds, combinations of several prints, Arab type and several of animals stand out. All of them go perfectly with armchairs or bed sets in earth tones, or colours with personality, such as a dark red or a blue France.

Fabrics in decoration

A very simple resource and that with a little ingenuity will make your spaces look great, is the decoration with fabrics. You can put a quota of style to your rooms by using this easy-to-get and economical element.

A fabric with a pattern of your taste could highlight a room that went completely unnoticed, making it more cosy and comfortable. It is an element that can be seen very well in decorations of walls, cushions, curtains or decorating other articles. Here we leave some ideas that can help you to orientate yourself in the decoration of a more harmonious and beautiful home to live.

In the bedroom

A header always gives the structure and focus to a room. You can make a cushioned headboard, lined in an embroidered fabric or in a pattern and colour of your choice.

Adding a bit of interest to your room with a cover or skirt of the bed, in a fabric of patterns or interesting texture. Embroidered fabrics are classic to improve the texture and give colour to what could be a simple space.

Cushions

Cushions or pillows are an easy and quick solution to add flavour to a space. Embroidered fabrics come in many shades and patterns that help create the perfect texture for a cushion cover that will bring your interiors to life.

Curtains

Consider the possibility of embroidered fabrics for curtains or blinds. If you have asked yourself about how to add a focal point to a room, but do not want to splurge on new furniture, think about installing modern patterned blinds or curtains. Try to choose a large model that captures the attention of the visitor’s eyes, by creating contrasts.

Upholstery

Adding accent to a room with fabrics for upholstering furniture is an excellent idea. Whether it’s a chair, a sofa or a piece of furniture, upholstering it with a nice fabric can put the right ingredient to a room that lacked style. Velvet is one of the fabrics that is currently trending.
